Study Abroad: 4 Houston universities offer best graduation programs based on Ranking 2024
These local schools that offer the best graduation programs include - Rice University, the University of Texas Health Science Center, Prairie View A&M University, and the University of Houston.
In the annual "Best Graduate Schools" rankings announced recently, Houston-area universities are again among the best grad schools in the state.
These rankings are published by U.S. News annually. It look at many programs including engineering, business, education, health, fine arts, and many others. The methodology also changed for ranking business schools as it added a new "salary indicator" based on a graduate's profession, as reported by Houston Innovation Map.
Top four universities in Houston
Following are the universities that bagged the top positions, as per the US News and World Report 2024:
- Rice University's Jesse H. Jones Graduate School of Business was at Number 2 position in Texas, in the overall nation category, it slipped to 29 positions from the earlier 24th spot. The entrepreneurship program at the college was at No. 8 in the U.S, while its part-time MBA program ranked No. 15 overall.
- The third spot was taken by Houston's University of Texas Health Science Center for its master's and doctorate nursing programs. The school ranked No. 25 nationally in the ranking of Best Public Health schools, and No. 36 for its nursing-anesthesia program.
- The University of Houston earned the number 4 spot in Texas for its graduate education program. Its graduate business school was at No. 56 in the nation. The University of Houston Law Center is the fifth best in Texas, and 68th best in the U.S.
- Prairie View A&M University's Northwest Houston Center ranked No. 5 in Texas. Its Doctor of Nursing Practice program ranked No. 8 statewide, and No. 139 nationally.

Based on the report, the top 10 high schools in the nation are - Julia R. Masterman Secondary School in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Walter Payton College Preparatory High School in Chicago, Illinois, BASIS Charter Schools in Peoria, Arizona, Signature School in Evansville, Indiana, Tesla STEM High School in Redmond, Washington, The School for the Talented and Gifted in Dallas, Texas, Academic Magnet High School in North Charleston, South Carolina International Academy in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, Gwinnett School of Mathematics, Science and Technology in Lawrenceville, Georgia, and Riverside Stem Academy in Riverside, California.
10 high schools in Illinois include - Lane Technical High School, Adlai E Stevenson High School, Brooks College Prep Academy High School, Vernon Hills High School, Hancock College Preparatory High School, New Trier Township High School Winnetka, Walter Payton College Preparatory High School, Northside College Preparatory High School, Young Magnet High School, and Jones College Prep High School.
