Study in Ireland: The Government offers the Ireland Postgraduate Scholarship Program for applicants who are interested in completing Master Fellowships in Ireland. Interested candidates must apply by October 10, 2024.

The award value will be up to a maximum of €31,000 per annum and includes a stipend of €22,000 per annum, research expenses of €22,000 per annum, and fees of up to a maximum of €5,750 per annum which also includes non-EU fees.

Ireland Postgraduate Scholarship Programme is prestigious and individual awards are given for excellent research. The selection process is done by independent and international expert peer review, the funding is provided across all disciplines from zoology to archaeology. The awards are for non-directed research and bottom-up.

Department of Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science of Ireland government funds this scholarship. Ireland's government has welcomed the pioneering proposals addressing emerging new fields of research, or proposals with innovative and creative approaches. Interdisciplinary proposals are also welcomed as it is achieved by integrating tools, information, techniques and perspectives from two or more disciplines.








Ireland Postgraduate Scholarship Programme: More Details

It is a highly competitive scholarship. In the past five years, it has had an average success rate of 18%. The Irish Research Council’s strategic funding partners for 2025 include the Department of Foreign Affairs, Met Eireann, Environmental Protection Agency, and Department of Children, Equality, Disability, Integration and Youth.







"Potential applicants should read the call documentation carefully to ascertain whether or not they are eligible to apply. Indicative versions of the applicant and supervisor forms are provided for information purposes only. All participants must create and submit their forms via the online system," reads the official statement.

The call outcome for scholarships is scheduled to be announced at the end of April 2025, and the award starts on September 1, 2025.

"The Government of Ireland Postgraduate Scholarship Programme is an established national initiative, funded by the Department of Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science, and managed by the Council. A new national research agency, Taighde Éireann/Research Ireland, has been established by the government. The agency will amalgamate the work of the Irish Research Council and Science Foundation Ireland. The full operation of Taighde Éireann will be enabled over the coming period," says the official statement.
