Study Abroad: Apply For Summer Research Fellowship In Hong Kong

The University Of Hong Kong Graduate School is accepting applications for the Summer Research Fellowship. The last date to apply for the fellowship is February 3, 2025.

Applications for the Summer Research Programme 2025 are open at the University Of Hong Kong Graduate School. It is a 10-week intense research training programme with extra-curricular activities and networking opportunities for elite students from all parts of the world. Indian students interested in pursuing research postgraduate studies at HKU can apply by February 3, 2025.

The application process has started today. The application fee is HK$300 which is non-refundable. The documents required with the applications include - academic and personal information, proposed study, faculty, mentor, department and field of study. The applicants also need to provide a personal statement (300-500 words). It should describe expectations, reasons to join this fellowship, the programs at HKU in which the applicant is interested and the short and long-term career goals.

Other supporting documents needed are - a CV, passport-size photo, final/latest transcript and certificate of your Master’s programme (if any), final/latest transcript and certificate of your Bachelor’s programme, and result of the English language proficiency test.

Selection Criteria

The target participants include outstanding students who have 1st Class Honours and equivalent in Bachelor's degree and currently pursuing a Master's degree programme, and excellent undergraduate students in the 3rd and fourth year with CGPA 3.6 or above (or equivalent).

The selection criteria include previous research experience, outstanding academic performance, strong interest in research postgraduate studies, high English proficiency, and interest in interdisciplinary studies.

Each participant will get a scholarship worth HK$10,000 upon successful completion of the programme

The selected candidates will get mentorship from the eminent professors of the HKU in planning and carrying out their research work.

The top performers will also get awards and prizes, and financial support of airfare up to HK$5,000.

"A small number of participants with outstanding performance and excellent academic records may be awarded a conditional offer of the HKU Presidential PhD Scholarship to pursue PhD studies at HKU upon completion of the current studies. The HKU Presidential PhD Scholarship is the most prestigious entrance scholarship to attract top students from around the world to pursue full-time PhD studies at HKU. The scholarship package includes up to HK$433,300 (US$55,560) in the first year, and up to HK$413,300 (US$52,990) in each of the subsequent years during the normative study period," reads the official statement.
