Study Abroad: Look forward to more Indian students in Australia, says Envoy Philip Green
Amid the growing concern about increasing visa rejection rates in Australia, the Australian Envoy said that the country looks forward to students from India.
Australia is looking forward to meritorious students who fit the right course, he added, as reported by Business Today.
While responding to a question on the increase in the rejection rates of Australian visas, Philip Green said, “There has not been a surge in rejection of students. I have looked at these statistics myself and they are very similar to this year to what they were last year. Unlike some other countries, Australia has not put a cap on the number of foreign students coming to our country.”
This is wrong to say that there is an increase in visa rejection rates, said Envoy
“Yes, we want to make sure that students coming forward from reputable institutions will have a good experience in Australia. We make apologies for the fact that we want good students and we want to make sure that they are paired with the right courses. This is utterly wrong to say that there has been a surge in rejections; we look forward to as many or perhaps even more Indian students coming to Australia in the next year,” he added.
'No Further Stay' visa policy impacts International Students
Recent amendments to the country's student visa regulations have affected the aspirants, especially the addition of 'No Further Stay' condition that stops visa holders from applying for any other visa within Australia after the expiration of their visa. The amendment is to prevent individuals from using temporary visas to prolong their stay in the country. The condition significantly impacts the employment prospects of international students in Australia. The employment opportunities after pursuing courses from Australia were one of the biggest attractions for Indian and other international students in Australia. Now, this clause poses many challenges for the aspirants.
This change and other reports about the high migration rates in Australia affected the aspirants in India looking to study in Australia. The country has always been among the top choices for studying abroad as it has always been welcoming to international students and offered a world-class education. How the recent developments are going to impact the aspirants will be seen in the coming period.
