Australian National University offers University Research Scholarships annually to help researchers. The university conducts two rounds for these scholarships. The Round 2 deadline for international and domestic students is April 15, 2025.
Round 1 has two parts - one for domestic students and another for international students. However, Round 2 is combined for both and is typically a smaller round. The value of the scholarship is $ 36,652 per annum which will be paid for 3.5 years and payments are made every fortnightly. It is available for postgraduate research.
ANU University Research Scholarships: Eligibility Criteria
The following are the eligibility criteria:
- The award is available for both continuing and prospective students.
- The applicants must have a minimum of Honours (H1) or H1 equivalent in their academic qualifications.
- They can be an international or domestic student enrolled in an accredited HDR course of study.
Selection Criteria
It is a competitive scholarship, and the selection is based on the following points:
- The selection committee considers the high academic records of the candidates.
- English language competency is required.
- They also assess the referee reports.
- Each application gets compared with other applications.
- Potential for research is evaluated, the location in which the research will be held and support from the prospective supervisor.
Benefits of ANU University Research Scholarships
Other than the scholarship value, the recipient will get the following benefits:
- The selected students will receive a Thesis Allowance.
- They will get paid maternity, parental, and medical leave.
- International students are eligible to get a dependent child allowance.
- They also get Travel and Removal allowances.
"No application is required specifically for this scholarship as all eligible candidates will be considered based upon their application for admission. When you complete your admission application for an HDR program you can select which scholarship/s you are interested in being considered for including the University Research Scholarship (URS). There is no separate application form except for current candidates (who have typically completed less than 1-year full-time equivalent), through the 'Request for a current ANU student to be considered for an HDR scholarship' form," reads the official statement.
