Study In UK: Aston University Rises In Global University Sustainability Rankings
Aston University has risen in the QS Sustainability Ranking 2025. The ranking is assessed across three categories including governance, social impact, and environmental impact.
In the recently announced QS Sustainability Ranking 2025, Aston University has been ranked in the top 21% of sustainable universities worldwide.
The ranking evaluates universities across three categories including social impact, environmental impact and governance. Out of 1,751 universities, 99 are from the UK.
Professor Aleks Subic, Vice-Chancellor and Chief Executive of Aston University said, “Our improved position signifies the progress being made to achieve our sustainability goals as set out in our 2030 strategy. Our new sustainability strategy represents a significant step in our journey towards making a positive transformational impact on our community.”
“We are committed to protecting our local environment, supporting regional and national businesses to adopt sustainable practices and building global partnerships that embody our commitment to the UN sustainable development goals. This includes our target of achieving net zero greenhouse gas emissions from the Aston University estate by 2030,” added Professor Aleks Subic.
Aston University In QS Sustainability Ranking 2025 Details
The university has improved from its previous year's ranking when it was in the top 24%. It also increased its ranking in three measurements.
“In November the University unveiled its new sustainability strategy which embodies its commitment to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and will serve as a blueprint to embed such issues in all its activities and operations,” said the university's statement.
Aston University Ranks 2nd In England For Social Mobility
The university has been again ranked as the second-best university in the country for social mobility. Higher Education Policy Institute (HEPI) releases the English Social Mobility Index every year.
