Study In UK: Oxford University Bursts Myths Of Interview Process
Oxford University has said that there are a lot of myths related to interviews at the university but it should be seen just like a conversation with an expert about the chosen field of the students.
Oxford University has stated how it is really to appear in an interview for the university and also said that there are many myths about this process however, it should be taken as an opportunity to discuss your subject with the subject matter expert at the university.
"Oxford interviews are an opportunity for applicants to have a conversation about their subject with someone who knows a lot about it. They’re also a chance to find out what our tutorial style teaching is like first-hand," reads the message on X by Oxford Undergraduate Admissions.
Interaction Aims To Know More About You As Future Students
On the main objective behind conducting interviews at Oxford University, the official statement said that the teaching is going to take place in small classes or tutorials and these interviews give an opportunity for the future tutors to know the students better in terms of their capabilities, thinking, enthusiasm for the subject and self-motivation.
The students are not going to be judged on background, manners and appearance but on how they engage with new ideas and ability to think uniquely and independently. Moreover, if one is invited for the Oxford interview then they come in the best of the candidates who meet the selection criteria best. For Oxford University it is not possible to interview each and every candidate.
Oxford Interviews Can't Be Rearranged
The applicants get an email in mid-November and early December indicating whether they are invited for the interview or not.
"Sometimes you might get invited to interview by a college you did not apply to. This is part of our reallocation process, where applicants get moved around to make sure everyone interviewed has a similar chance of being made an offer," says Oxford statement.
The applicants must know that the Oxford interviews will be held between early to mid-December and they must be available for interviews at that time as these cannot be rearranged.
Be Ready For More Than One Interview By Oxford
The applicants might have to appear in more than one interview possibly by more than one college.
"In some subjects, you will be invited to interviews at more than one college before your interviews start. In other subjects, you might have 'initial' interviews at your first college and then be invited to an 'additional' interview at another college after these have taken place. We aim to give everyone a minimum of 24 hours' notice of these additional interviews," added the Oxford statement.
