Study In UK: Queen Mary University Co-Hosts Global Education Conference
The Global Education Conference was organized by the Online Education Alliance, Global MOOC, and UNESCO Institute for Information Technologies in Education.
Queen Mary University of London in association with Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications and Tsinghua University has co-hosted the 2024 annual Global MOOC & Online Education Conference (GMC).
Professor Colin Bailey CBE, President and Principal of Queen Mary University said, "It’s clear that AI and technology more broadly will play an ever-increasingly important role in higher education, both for students and staff. Conferences like the GMC are important as they provide the opportunity for those in higher education to come together, listen to and learn from each other and ultimately, work together to integrate technology into pedagogy.”
"I am incredibly proud that Queen Mary University was chosen as the venue for the conference, as it demonstrates and recognises our strengths in AI and digital education and our commitment to providing our students with an outstanding educational experience. I would also like to thank everyone involved, especially our partners and colleagues in China and the Department of Education,” added Professor Colin Bailey CBE.
It was a two-day long event which saw the gatherings of global leaders in education and involved 300 delegates and more than 80 speakers. The leaders discussed the role of technology particularly AI's role in higher education now and in the future.
Queen Mary University Launches New Centre For Excellence In AI In Education
The new Centre for AI in Education is based in the Queen Mary Academy. It will help the faculty members to deliver impactful teaching with the help of AI and digital literacy.
Professor Janet De Wilde, Director Queen Mary Academy said, “Queen Mary Academy empowers the University’s educators and researchers to grow and achieve their full potential within a supportive environment. I am incredibly proud that the Academy is home to this centre which will help staff develop new skills that enhance their teaching to the benefit of our students and future employers.”
Dr Xue Zhou, Academic Head of the Centre for Excellence said, “By harnessing the power of AI, we will create a dynamic environment which supports educators in delivering impactful, engaging teaching and improves student outcomes by equipping them to meet the demands of a rapidly evolving workforce.”
