Study in UK: University of Manchester invites applications for MSc Social Network Analysis
The learning mode of the MSc Social Network Analysis at the University of Manchester will include computer-assisted workshops, face-to-face lectures, methods for a variety of substantive fields in social sciences, and applications of social network theories.
Study Abroad: University of Manchester is currently accepting applications for MSc Social Network Analysis. It is of one-year duration in full-time and 2 years in part-time.
The program covers theories, social network analysis, methods and applications of social networks in social sciences. The students get to learn about the theoretical foundations of techniques for data collection, social network analysis, statistical modelling of social networks and mixed methods, the constitutive elements of research design, and advanced methods for social network data analysis and visualization.
For a full-time MSc course, the tuition fee is £13,000 per annum for UK students, and £24,500 per annum for international students including the EU.
Entry Requirements
The applicant must have a bachelor's degree with honours in mathematics, social sciences, computer sciences, physics or the overseas equivalent.
"The entry requirements are intentionally kept open as SNA is an interdisciplinary approach that attracts scholars from both humanities and natural sciences," reads the official statement.
Applicants whose first language is not English should submit the test scores of the following:
- A minimum of 7 overall scores in IELTS Academic test with 7 in writing and no further component score below 6.5
- 76 overall score in the Pearson Test of English (PTE) with no score below 70 and in writing, the score should be 76.
- TOEFL IBT 100 with no score below 22 in each section. and 25 in writing. TOEFL code for Manchester is 0757
Objective of the course
The program aims to train the students with essential skills in social network research so that they can understand and contribute properly, to meet the international and national demand for social network analysis (SNA) in commercial environments including public health, crime analysis, and market research, and in academic social research.
The course will provide a unique set of skills in modelling techniques and data visualization in public and commercial sectors.
