The University Of Liverpool annually offers the prestigious Duncan Norman Research Scholarship. It is a highly competitive scholarship for PhD students. The last date to apply for the Duncan Norman Research Scholarship 2025 is April 4, 2025.
"Prospective applicants must hold a formal offer of study for a PhD programme at the University of Liverpool and only students who already hold, or are likely to attain in forthcoming examinations, a first-class honours degree (or its equivalent) are likely to be considered by the University’s Scholarship Awarding Committee," says the official statement.
Eligibility Criteria For Duncan Norman Research Scholarship 2025
This scholarship is granted irrespective of subject area, tuition fee status, and nationality. It is open to all prospective full-time postgraduate research students.
The university has encouraged students to apply for other secure funding from alternate sources and if they get such a postgraduate studentship, they must accept this funding. Combining the Duncan Norman Research Scholarship with other funding will help students handle their educational finances while pursuing a PhD at the University of Liverpool.
"The holders of the scholarship must register for a PhD at the University of Liverpool and attend any events based in Liverpool that are organised by the Duncan Norman Charitable Trust,” says the university.
Benefits Of Duncan Norman Research Scholarship 2025
The following are the benefits of this scholarship:
- The candidates get full payment of the tuition fees whether they are domestic, international or EU candidates.
- They get an annual maintenance stipend of £22,000. If they have another source of funding, they get a top-up to this level of maintenance.
- The candidates get a desktop computer or laptop of up to £1,000 in value.
- They get up to £500 in years 2 and 3 for support for conferences.
- Candidates who plan to live on the campus, get free accommodation of up to £4,635 and those who choose to live off campus will get an allowance of the same amount.
“Please note that prospective MRes, Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine, currently registered University of Liverpool MPhil/PhD students, off-site and those based at XJTLU are not eligible for application to this scholarship. Prospective applicants must hold a formal offer of study for a PhD programme at the University of Liverpool and only students who already hold, or are likely to attain in forthcoming examinations, a first-class honours degree (or its equivalent) are likely to be considered by the University’s Scholarship Awarding Committee,” added the university.
