Study in Ireland: The two institutes came together to enhance faculty development and explore new learning and teaching practices through leading-edge technology.
Study Abroad: Technological University of the Shannon (TUS) and Canada’s Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (SAIT) have joined forces to expand global partnerships. They signed a collaborative agreement for a period of three years.
The agreement was signed in the presence of Rajan Sawhney, Minister of Advanced Education of Alberta, Canada, and Patrick O’Donovan TD, Minister for Further and Higher Education, Research, and Innovation. Under the agreement, the institutes aim to internationalize the student experience and curriculum and will fulfil mutual strategic alignment. The institutes will develop joint programs, explore research initiatives, share best practices and information, and seek opportunities for faculty and student exchanges.
While commenting on the agreement, Professor Vincent Cunnane, President of TUS, said, “Collaboration is the lifeblood of innovation, and we are delighted to commit to this exciting new partnership with SAIT, which will open new opportunities across two continents for staff, students and researchers.”
Dr. David Ross, SAIT President and CEO, added, “Solidifying our mutual commitment to collaboration through this new partnership with TUS is invigorating. The opportunity to exchange information and develop new and engaging education methods in support of student success will be a welcomed initiative among SAIT faculty and staff.”
There will be a committee with members from both institutes which will determine the students' learning opportunities to help them gain global perspectives through potential education exchanges and joint programming.
ReSHAPE project introduced at TUS
Regional Skills Horizon and Pathways to Employment (ReSHAPE) is a landmark initiative for the shift to low carbon economy in the Midlands. The initiative will facilitate funded training, education and skills development opportunities for 3,900 learners for two years.
While launching it, Minister of State for Land Use and Biodiversity Pippa Hackett said, “ReSHAPE is vital for equipping Midlands communities and workers to thrive in a low-carbon economy. This project, funded by the EU Just Transition Programme, represents a significant investment in our future, offering targeted support where it is needed most. It is essential that those most affected by the transition to a carbon-neutral future receive tailored assistance to address the social and economic impacts. ReSHAPE exemplifies this commitment by leveraging local expertise and resources to drive meaningful change in the Midlands.”
