Texas State University announces record enrollment for Fall 2024

First time in the history of the university, the overall enrollment has surpassed 40,000 students. The university was also placed among the “Best U.S. Colleges” for 2025 in the WSJ ratings.

Study in US: In the university's long 125-year history, for the first time, the university has enrolled over 40,000 students for the fall 2024 semester.

President Kelly Damphousse commented on this and said, “Our historic fall enrollment of more than 40,000 students is a significant milestone. While it’s definitely something our teams can be proud of, our mission extends beyond simply enrolling a lot of students. Their success is at the heart of everything we do here. Our mission is to serve the growing population of Texas. Our strategic enrollment plan is making it possible for more qualified Texans to earn a life-changing college degree."

“Like me, more than 41% of our students are the first in their families to pursue a college degree. The demographics of our student body perfectly mirror those of the state of Texas. We are driven to make higher education more accessible to Texans and dedicated to ensuring that every capable student finds a clear path to earn a degree at TXST – including those who start at a community college or who have stopped out of college for a while. The success of those efforts is reflected this fall in our record-setting overall enrollment, freshman and transfer enrollment and first-year retention numbers," he added.

The earlier highest enrollment was seen in 2016 when it was at 38,849 students. This year the total enrollment stands at 40,678, it increased by 1,805 students, up by 4.6%, as against the previous year.

The US university witnessed all-time high enrollment numbers for graduate students, first-year students, international students and doctoral students.

‘Wall Street Journal’ names Texas State among “Best U.S. Colleges” for 2025

Wall Street Journal/College Pulse recently released its latest list and it has placed Texas State among the “Best U.S. Colleges” for 2024-2025.

The university was at No. 244.

In the latest ranking, Princeton University was at the top position, Babson University was at the number second and Stanford University at third position. The universities were evaluated on the basis of Diversity, Student Outcomes, and Survey Results.
