Study in US: The University of Arkansas has invited applications for the statewide Folk and Traditional Arts Apprenticeship program. The application deadline is August 31, 2024. The program will be spread from November 2024 through May 2025.

To share more information about the program with those who are interested, Arkansas Folk and Traditional Arts is all set to host a virtual event from 5:30-7 p.m on August 20. Registration is needed for this event and it is free and open to the public.

The program helps in mentoring apprentices and artists who are committed to taking their cultural heritage and artistic traditions to the next level. The teams of artists need to meet each other regularly to develop a work plan for future projects and also share their experiences with the artist communities during the culmination of the project.

The Apprenticeship Program provides funding of up to $3,000 to support and honour the traditional artists who dedicate time to passing their knowledge and skills on to apprentices over an extended period of time. The program gets its funding from the National Endowment for the Arts and the Arkansas Arts Council.
