University of Birmingham: Applications open for DeepMind Scholarship
The University of Birmingham announced two scholarships funded by DeepMind. The applications are open for applicants with a conditional offer or unconditional offer for the MSc Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning at the UK Edgbaston campus.
The International scholarship is valued at £56,525 and it is applied against the following:
- International tuition fees - £31,410
- £1,700 towards purchase of essential equipment (suitable laptop etc.).
- £1,870 to assist with relocation expenses
- Funding of up to £2,200 to attend an international conference in the field of AI and/or Machine Learning during the course as well
- A maintenance grant of £19,345 (to use for living costs), paid in instalments over the duration of the course
"Applications will be shortlisted and suitable candidates contacted for interview at the end of July 2024. Further information will be shared directly with offer holders regarding the process," reads the university's statement.
Eligibility Criteria
The following are the eligibility conditions:
- The candidate should be a female and must be able to show (if needed) that she would not be able to take up the admission offer without the scholarship.
- Be classed as an international student for fee paying purposes, or ordinarily resident in the UK and would be classified as UK for fee paying purposes.
- Have already received the conditional or unconditional offer for the MSc Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning program at the University of Birmingham.
How to apply for DeepMind Scholarship
The application process started in May 2024. The application deadline is 21 July 2024. Once the applicant gets the offer from the university's central admission office, they get an email with a direct application link, to apply for the DeepMind scholarship. The shortlisted candidates will have to appear in an interview at the end of July 2024 to get selected. Regarding the interview and further processes, the information will be directly shared with the selected candidates.
UK Scholarship Details
It is valued at £34,225. The value of the scholarship is applied to the following:
- UK tuition fees - £11,340
- £1,700 towards the purchase of essential equipment (suitable laptop etc.)
- A maintenance grant of £18,985 (to use for living costs), paid in instalments over the duration of the course
- Funding of up to £2,200 to attend an international conference in the field of AI and/or Machine Learning during the course
