University of Manchester Literature Festival to start in October
Study in UK: It will start on the campus with the welcoming of the former Green Party leader Caroline Lucas, and the festival will see a variety of events.
This October, the Manchester Literature Festival is all set to host an exciting program with multiple events. The program will be held between October 4 and October 20.
University’s Martin Harris Centre for Music and Drama will witness the first event by welcoming former Green Party leader Caroline Lucas. She will launch her book Another England: How to Reclaim Our National Story. The university will work closely with the festival team to showcase the effect of literature in the city.
Jackie Kay, former Scottish Makar and firm festival favourite, will recite poems from her new collection.
"Every year the Manchester Literature Festival offers up a rich feast of readings, culture and conversation. In 2024, this feels especially vital: to provide a space for joy, beauty and connection, but also for urgent discussions about who we are or might be; the earth we inhabit; our fraught histories and possible futures – and even what we eat. This showcasing of contemporary creativity is at the heart of the Centre for New Writing’s mission, and we are delighted to be the Festival’s Higher Education Partner once again," said Dr Kaye Mitchell, Director of the Centre for New Writing.
