University Of Sheffield: Admissions open for MSc Environmental Change And International Development
MSc Environmental Change And International Development is rooted in principles of interdisciplinary learning, decolonising knowledge, and connecting theory with policy and practice. The students will have the flexibility to tailor the course to their interests.
The students will be able to learn how environmental challenges inform policy and practice and also explore the relationship between international development social justice and the environment. The course offers a unique combination of an optional field class, academic excellence, tailored professional skills teaching, and a research-based dissertation based on placements, research collaborations or independent research.
The course is of one year duration. The eligibility criteria include:
- The candidates must have a three-year bachelor's degree with a minimum of 60% or "first class" in medicine or social sciences from a recognized university.
- The overall IELTS score of 6.5, with a minimum of 6.0 in each component, or equivalent.
Fees and Funding
The fee for domestic students is £10,710 and for international students, it is £26,350. There are also various scholarships and bursaries available to support the dissertation with placement. Low-cost local placements are also available.
The students can apply for the program using the Postgraduate Online Application Form. The application form is divided into two parts - Part 1 and Part 2. Part 1 is for personal information comprising previous education and employment and English language ability. In Part 2 students can select the course or courses they want to apply and they can apply to a total of three different postgraduate courses.
"You'll need to include certain documents to support your application, for example evidence of your previous qualifications, and a personal statement. You can supply these simply by uploading them to the relevant sections of your application," reads the official notification.
MSc Environmental Change And International Development also have optional modules from across the university. These include subjects - public health, urban development, diverse as food security, and climate change.
"We also offer a lower cost and more sustainable UK-based ‘hybrid’ field class as an alternative. International field class locations are subject to variation and subject to the number of students participating, but previous destinations have included Peru, Nepal and South Africa," added the official statement.
