University Of Sheffield: Applications Open For MSc Cancer Biology and Therapeutics
Study in UK: The MSc Cancer Biology and Therapeutics connects cancer research conducted by the scientists with the oncology treatment the patients receive in the hospitals.
The University of Sheffield has invited applications for its MSc Cancer Biology and Therapeutics. The course will commence in September 2025. The course offers research-led teaching in clinical oncology, fundamental cancer biology, and the latest advances in modern therapeutics including precision medicine and immunotherapy. The annual fee for international students is £33,970.
“ In addition, the six-month full-time research project is excellent preparation for a PhD and a career in healthcare or the pharmaceutical industry,” says the official statement of the university.
Eligibility Criteria For MSc Cancer Biology And Therapeutics
- The candidate must have a three /four-year bachelor’s degree from a recognized university with a minimum of 60% in relevant subject.
- The accepted degrees are in the following subjects - Molecular Biology, Veterinary Science, Biology, Genetics, Medicine, and Biochemistry.
- IELTS with minimum 7 scores and not less than 6.5 in each component.
“This course connects the cancer research that scientists conduct in the lab with the treatments that oncology patients receive. It covers the fundamental science of cancer, clinical aspects of cancer diagnosis and treatment, the current and emerging technologies of cancer research and the process of translating scientific discoveries into new therapies in areas including immunotherapy and precision medicine. 6-months of the course are dedicated to the full-time research project which students will undertake within one of the university's world-leading research teams to develop valuable research skills,” says an official statement.
Scholarships For MSc Cancer Biology And Therapeutics
75 International Postgraduate Taught Merit Scholarships are offered by the university for 2025 intake. These scholarships are competitive and worth £10,000. The scholarship is given towards the tuition fees. The scholarships are open to all new students who meet the eligibility criteria. The application deadline for applying to the scholarship is May 12, 2025.
“Students will study the cellular and molecular biology that underpins the transformation of normal cells into cancer cells and how these can be exploited in precision medicine. In addition, students will learn about the broader epidemiology of cancer, gaining insight into cancer risks and disease patterns within the population to understand how and why cancer occurs. The tumour microenvironment and its potential for therapeutic targeting are examined in detail. Students will learn how tumours grow, how cancer spreads, and how the cells that interact with cancer cells, such as immune cells, can influence tumour progression,” added the university.
