US Consulate in Hyderabad extends F1 visa deadline by two weeks
After the US Consulate in Hyderabad opened the F1 visa process, scores of students reportedly booked in minutes, and others kept waiting but were unable to book the slots, as claimed by the students. Those who could not apply for the F1 visa have also raised this issue on the social media platform X.

The US Consulate in Hyderabad recently announced the opening of slots for student visa interviews. The Consulate said that the students must apply for F1 visas at least six to eight months before the course begins. As per reports, most of the students were unable to apply for F1 visas as the slots got booked within minutes. The students are worried about their US admissions as the Fall session will start in September 2024.
Many students also complained on the social media platform X about the technical glitch they faced while trying to book a slot.
“Hey @USAndHyderabad - it has been 20+ days since the technical glitch on the visa portal has not been slot. Me and 1000+ applicants who have a previous B1/B2 APPROVED visa have not been able to see even a single slot for our f1 application. We are so stressed and feel helpless,” says one of the messages.
“My brother has been trying to get a F1 Visa Slot since last July but can't do it due to technical issues due to which we had to pay his Visa Embassy Fee a total of 4 times. New issue is now blocking us again from booking any dates. Take action asap,” added another message on X.
US Consulate in Hyderabad extends student visa season by two weeks
After the students' concern, the Consulate has extended the student visa season.
US Consulate in Hyderabad also invited aspiring students to the hybrid Hyderabad session on Friday, May 24, 2024, 3:00-4:00 PM IST.
“Have you received an admit from a U.S. University for Fall 2024 or Spring 2025? The next step is to apply for your student visa. EducationUSA India is delighted to announce our upcoming Student Visa Information Sessions 2024. At this session, a Consular (Visa) Officer from the U.S. Embassy/Consulates will guide you through the procedures for applying for a U.S. student visa. Join us for the hybrid Hyderabad session on Friday, May 24, 2024, 3:00-4:00 PM IST. You can also join us in person at: S.L.
