US Education Department Releases Details of Biden-Harris Administration's Investments in Education System
As per the fact sheet report, the key achievements include helping around 100,000 public schools reopen and recover academically, the largest-ever federal education investment, and tackling the youth's mental health issues.
US Education Department has released a fact sheet which highlights the Biden-Harris administration funding in the education system. The investment built new pathways to brighter futures and careers, helped students boost their academic achievement and supported students' mental health.
U.S. Secretary of Education Miguel Cardona said, “Public education is the foundation of opportunity and social mobility in this country, and I could not be prouder of the Biden-Harris Administration’s historic investments in public education in all 50 states, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico. These 52 fact sheets show tangible ways our investments have raised the bar for students and schools in every part of our country. Together, we have swiftly and safely reopened schools after a pandemic, helped students accelerate their academic achievement, supported student mental health, and built new pathways to brighter careers and futures. Fighting unapologetically for public education gets real results.”
As per the government's release, the administrator carried out many significant tasks like huge investment in the education system through $130 billion in American Rescue Plan, $53 billion to support special education, $60 billion to help suburban, urban and rural, $7.6 billion in technical, career and adult education.

"Figures reflect aggregate investments made by the Department over federal Fiscal Years (FY) 2021 through FY 2024. Additional funding will continue to be disbursed by the Department in the weeks ahead as the Department concludes grant awards in FY 2024 and begins making new grants in FY 2025,” said the government's official statement.
Other significant investments included $1 billion to help reduce gun violence in schools and $1 billion to facilitate mental health professionals in schools.
Under this administration, the teacher pay has increased by 9.5% during 2023-24. Also, teachers can benefitted from registered apprenticeship programs in 38 states, Puerto Rico, and D.C. The investments also helped to create over 643,000 education jobs.
“The 2024 Back to School Bus Tour featured stops in Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, and Pennsylvania. This year’s theme, "Fighting for Public Education," highlights how school communities are using the Biden-Harris Administration’s historic investments in public education to implement evidence-based, promising and innovative strategies and accelerate academic success, to support students of all ages and backgrounds. The 2024 Bus Tour celebrates public education as the American system that opened the door for so many of our nation’s success stories: from astronauts to astrophysicists, writers to engineers, musicians to mathematicians, innovative entrepreneurs in the private sector to great leaders in the public sector,” added the government statement.
