US Embassy & Consulates in Indonesia to Host Pre-Departure Orientation for Students
Study Abroad: Students from Indonesia who are about to go to the US to pursue higher studies can attend a Pre-Departure Orientation in their home country on July 20.
For Indonesian students planning to pursue short-term studies, undergraduate and postgraduate programs from USA, the US Embassy's cultural centre - EducationUSA Indonesia and @america is going to host a pre-departure orientation at @america at Pacific Place Mall in central Jakarta on July 20 from 10 am to 1 pm.
The event will see sessions on adapting to a US university environment and maintaining student visa status. There is no registration fee for the event, it is free to attend and can be attended by any public.
A U.S. Embassy spokesperson said, "The United States is open to Indonesian students. Building these educational ties and sharing the opportunities that U.S. universities can offer to Indonesian students is a core part of our partnership with Indonesia. Through this pre-departure orientation, we aim to help Indonesian students transition to U.S. academic life smoothly and successfully.”
The speakers include alumni from the Fulbright Program and the Indonesian Endowment Fund for Education (LPDP), counsellor from the University of Washington, a vice consul from the U.S. Embassy, and a current Fulbright awardee at the University of Delaware.
EducationUSA offices in Indonesia will offer free virtual advising services and in-person advising services to the students going to US.
U.S. Graduate Fair 2024
United States Agency for International Development is hosting a series of U.S. Graduate Fair 2024 in Indonesia, one event was held today in Yogyakarta, another will be in Jakarta on July 20, and one more will be held in Surabaya on July 21.
U.S.-Indonesia Society (USINDO) and the United States Agency for International Development are jointly organizing this event for study-abroad aspirants and their families. Through this Fair, the prospective students will get to know about the various graduate programs offered in the fields of public policy, business, health and education, among others.
The universities participating in the Fair are - Georgia Institute of Technology, Harvard University, Duke University, Georgetown University, Carnegie Mellon University, Columbia University, Arizona State University, Boston University, John Hopkins University, Michigan State University, University of Maryland, University of Michigan, The Ohio State University, Pennsylvania State University, Princeton University, the Yale University and the University of Illinois.
Mohib Ahmed, the Acting Mission Director of USAID Indonesia said, “The United States is committed to working with Indonesia to ensure that Indonesian students have the resources they need to achieve their academic and professional goals. Graduate Fair 2024 will offer prospective students the opportunity to explore a diverse range of graduate programs and discover pathways to studying at world-leading U.S. universities.”
