The pro-Palestine protesters in the US have placed fake bloody corpses outside the home of a University of Michigan official. These protesters were wearing masks and pitched tents and fake corpses outside the official’s home.

Chair of the university’s governing board, Sarah Hubbard said that the 6 am demonstration at her home in Okemos on Wednesday had 30 protestors involved.

“They approached my home and taped a letter to my front door and proceeded to erect the tents. A variety of other things were left in the front yard. They started chanting with their bullhorn and pounding on a drum in my otherwise quiet neighbourhood,” said Ms. Hubbard, as quoted by The Hindu.

The official and her husband stayed inside their house while the protests were going on outside. She said that the protestors left only when police arrived after 30 to 45 minuts and no arrests were made in this case.

Protesting at public official’s private residence is unacceptable, says official

She said that protesting at her residence will not move their cause forward in a satisfactory manner.

"This morning at 5:54 a.m. a group of approximately 30 individuals representing protestors from the University of Michigan’s campus entered my property, erected three tents and left behind a variety of toys, sheets and other items,” she said on X platform.

“They proceeded to use bullhorns, drums and chants to disrupt my home and neighborhood. They also taped a list of “demands” to my front door. When Meridian Township police responded, the protestors departed and abandoned their property on my lawn.No arrests were made,” she said through another message on X platform.

“The group has asked for a response to their “demands.”In March, the Board of Regents spoke clearly regarding their request for divesting from our endowment. Again, the answer is NO. Should they wish to further discuss this topic with the Board of Regents they should take advantage of our public meeting scheduled for tomorrow, Thursday, May 16, 2024 or any future public meeting,” she added.

"Tactics used on May 15 at the residences of University of Michigan Regents represent a significant and dangerous escalation in the protests that have been occurring on campus," reads a message on X by the University of Michigan.

"Individuals hid their identities by wearing masks. The following student groups, who also have organized the encampment on the university’s Central Campus Diag, claimed responsibility on social media: Jewish Voice for Peace (JVP) at the University of Michigan, Students Allied for Freedom and Equality (SAFE) and Transparency, Accountability, Humanity, Reparations, Investment, Resistance (TAHRIR) Coalition. Additional social media posts followed on those same accounts restating demands directed at the U-M Regents,” said the official statement of the university.
