Linkoping University: Courses, Admission, Cost

The origin of Linkoping University dates back to 1965 when the Swedish Parliament made a decision to establish a university college of medicine and engineering, together with a Stockholm University branch in Linkoping. In the fall of 1967, the Stockholm University branch moved on a site in central Linköping and the units for medicine and engineering got underway in 1969. In 1970, Linkoping University College was formed by merging various parts including faculties of medicine, engineering, sciences and arts. In 1975, it finally became Linkoping University. Currently, the university holds the membership of prestigious organizations like the European University Association (EUA) and the European Consortium of Innovative Universities (ECIU). Also, it is recognized by Sweden's Ministry of Education and Research.

Linkoping University has four campuses in three cities across Sweden. The University Hospital Campus (Campus US) and Campus Valla are situated in Linkoping, one campus is in Norrkoping and Campus Lidingo is located in Stockholm. Located at a distance of 3 km from Linkoping town centre, Campus Valla is the largest and oldest of all campuses. It has spacious classrooms, huge auditoriums, Musicum for orchestra rehearsals, Colosseum to host big events, Valla Library, Angstrom Building that features electron microscope Arwen and numerous cafes and restaurants. Campus US is located near Campus Valla and includes the Medical Library, large auditoriums, group activity rooms, classrooms and a study area. Situated in the city centre along the Motala river, Campus Norrkoping houses Clinicum for practising clinical skills, a library, spacious classrooms, study areas, the Centre for Climate Science and Policy Research, Visualization Centre and several cafes. Campus Lidingo, also known as Malmstens Linkoping University, is situated on the island of Lidingo near central Stockholm. It offers courses in cabinet-making, furniture design and furniture upholstery and is home to many classrooms, studios and a library.

Linkoping University offers around 120 bachelor's, masters and doctoral programmes in various fields such as arts, humanities, business, management, economics, engineering, computer science, environment, medicine, health science, natural science, social science, behavioural science and education. It also offers 27 international master's programmes completely taught in English. The university houses 4,000 employees and 32,000 students including 2,400 foreign students. It has collaborations with 400 universities across 50 countries and welcomes 1,000 exchange students every year. The institution maintains partnerships with several other organizations and industries to present students with exceptional educational and employment opportunities. Linkoping University has a number of distinguished alumni.
