St Mary’s University is a modern, career-focused university of 6,000 students from over 90 different countries at a beautiful campus in South-West London, just outside the centre of the city. The University has consistently very high employability ratings and is ranked in the Top 10 for Teaching Quality and Top 5 for Student Experience (Good University Guide 2022).
St Mary’s is a member of the Chartered Association of Business Schools and has one of the most well-accredited Business departments in London, including accreditation from the Chartered Management Institute, the only organisation able to award Chartered Manager status in the UK.
Optional work placements and consultancy projects are offered on many courses and are supported by the University’s Centre for Workplace Learning, who can also place students with suitable London businesses. Paid placement years are also offered on many Business, Media and Humanities undergraduate degrees.
Some of the most popular subjects at St Mary’s include, Business Management; Finance and Accounting; Sports Management; Sport and Exercise Science; Sport and Football Coaching; International Sports Journalism; Law and Business Law; Social Sciences; Education and Teacher Training and Chronic Disease Management. The University also offers online Master’s degrees in, Public Health, Psychology (Conversion course), Strength and Conditioning, and Performance Football Coaching. Fees can vary for different courses, but International fees for most courses are Undergraduate: £13,650 a year, Postgraduate: £14,550 and Distance Learning & Online: £9,750.
International scholarships worth £1,500 - £3,000 are awarded throughout the year to international-fee paying students until all funding has been awarded. Scholarships are merit-based and there is no application form: all eligible international students who apply for a course at St Mary’s will also be assessed for a scholarship. There can be strong competition, so apply early for your best chance of being awarded a scholarship.
There is guaranteed accommodation available for new undergraduate students who apply before the summer deadline, and all rooms include breakfast and dinner. There are also different types of affordable postgraduate accommodation near to campus, and a commuter lounge which includes a kitchen, lockers, and places to relax for students who travel to campus from different parts of London.
St Mary’s is an elite sports university, with an excellent reputation for International Sports Journalism, Sport and Coaching Sciences, and competitive sport. The University has world-class facilities which have been used by professional athletes such as Usain Bolt, Andy Murray, and Max Verstappen; and St Mary’s has also been a team base for many international teams when competing in London, including teams from the USA, Australia, New Zealand, China, Japan, South Africa, and Denmark.
St Mary’s has 24 different sports clubs which compete in national, international, and university-level competitions, and are supported by professional coaches and expertise in strength and conditioning, sports nutrition, sports psychology, and our sports rehabilitation clinic. The University has partnerships with many different sports clubs and organisations and has supported athletes all the way to the Olympics and the start of their professional sporting careers. Recently, the Men’s cricket club was placed second in the British Universities and Colleges Sports league national indoor championships, and the university has produced championship teams across many different sports.
