Good college but expensive.
Placements: 80-90% of students got placed in mechanical, and the highest package in mechanical was 15-17 lpa, and the lowest package was 6 lpa in mechanical companies like MG, Murti, Tata, etc. Nearly everyone got an internship in Sonalika, Maruti, JCB, etc. Teachers are also well qualified.
Infrastructure: No doubts, Thapar has the best infrastructure and hostel; you can compare their infrastructure with foreign universities; they have the best library. A luxury hostel facility in which they provide laundry, Wi-Fi, and housekeeping staff. Mess is also well maintained, & food is also very good.
Faculty: Teachers are very helpful, well qualified, and PhD IIT. No doubt every teacher has good knowledge & understanding of their subject, but most teachers don't have good teaching skills. Most students prefer to miss class & use YouTube for studies. The exam level is very tough, & exam is 100% numerical, not even theory questions.

My college has a very good infrastructure with good park and ground for playing.
Placements: The number of internships and placements are very high compared to other private colleges. About 85% of students are placed this year. Students who are good at studying are placed in big companies such as Google, Apple, etc. The roles offered in our courses are plant managers.
Infrastructure: Hostel infrastructure and facilities are very good as compared to other colleges. The hostels have AC, lighting, and proper toilet systems. The quality of the food is very good. The food is very tasty. Drinks are provided at lunch. Wi-Fi is provided in all hostel rooms at a good speed.
Faculty: The faculty members are very nice and helpful. All teachers are ready to help whenever needed. Most of the teachers have done their PhD's at IIT. The teaching quality at the university is very good due to the good faculty. The semester exams are not tough but require an ample amount of studying to score good marks.

TIET offers very good exposure to students. Very highly maintained infrastructure.
Placements: A good number of students are placed this year in the mechanical branch. More than 90% of the students were placed. The highest package was around 12–14 lacs per annum, which is very good for the mechanical branch and an average was 8 lacs. Maruti Suzuki, Mahindra, Sonalika and many more were the top recruiters.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure of the college is very beautiful and mesmerizing. The hostels here are among the best hostels in our country. The hostel M is the best, with the most beautiful infrastructure and facilities. Many facilities regarding food, sports, workshops, melas, and festivals are conducted very often in the college. Saturnalia is the annual fest.
Faculty: The teachers here are Ph.D. holders for every course TIET offers. Teachers are quite keen on teaching and sharing their valuable knowledge with the students. Talking about mechanical and the core branches, TIET offers great endurance to the students regarding their industry-ready career. The semester isn't very difficult; their level stays between easy and moderate.
Other: I chose mechanical, as I had a keen interest in automobiles and infrastructure in the engine industry due to my past experiences. Mechanical offers the best placements in TIET and off-campus placements are also good for this branch. Events are held very often on campus and life on campus is very awesome. The crowd is from good family wards and is very educational in the area.

Thapar University explained in brief.
Placements: In mechanical engineering, placements are 100%, with the highest package of 44 LPA and the lowest package of 10 LPA as of the 2023 census. HSBC, Infosys, Hindustan Unilever, IBM, Reliance, Whirlpool, Microsoft, Maruti Suzuki, Samsung, Wipro, JP Morgan, etc. are the top recruiters that visit Thapar University every year. 100% of the students got their internship through University and in many reputed companies such as Microsoft, Wipro, Samsung, TCS, etc. The top roles offered are manager and HR.
Infrastructure: Mechanical Engineering at Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology is one of the best mechanical engineering courses and is respected worldwide. The labs provided here are top-class with world-class equipment and teachers, and the research conducted here about various vehicles is also funded by many other companies. Besides study, the institute has a centralized Wi-Fi connection and with the world's 7th stunning library, the classrooms here are also one of their kind, with a capacity of about 120–150 students. The hostels provided to boys are 8 and for girls there are 6 hostels, in which there are single sharing, double sharing, triple sharing and 4 sharing rooms available. The meals are included within every hostel, which has a different menu every week with one refreshment at lunch and a sweet dish at dinner and the menu is also changed according to the climate. There is also a huge sports center located, which has each and every type of game, and if you are qualified for the national level in any game, a coach is also provided to you for further guidance.
Faculty: Teachers are very helpful and are ready to teach you several times if you don't understand and they are also ready to solve any doubt you have. Teachers are also very knowledgeable, having degrees from renowned universities across India. The teaching quality is very top-notch, with animations included for a better understanding of the topic. The curriculum that students study in mechanical engineering is very relevant and makes them industry-ready, because only mechanical engineering here is this renowned. The level of semester exams here is easy to moderate. There are two exams conducted throughout the semester: the mid-semester test (MST) and the end-semester test (EST). Almost 98% of the students pass these tests.
Other: Mechanical Engineering here is very renowned so this is the reason I opted for it. The best thing about my course is that the degree is very valuable outside the campus and the labs and equipment provided here are world-class. There are not a lot of things that are to be improved but some are the hardness of the curriculum and the interaction between student and teacher should be made more transparent. There are constant events being conducted, Such as TFF, SAT ECONIGMA, WDS, etc. And many more that have much more crowds, as there are students from different colleges too that attend this festival. The surrounding campus has very much greenery and the surroundings are very silent, unlike at other colleges. Scholarships are also provided to those who have an income less than 10 LPA and one more scholarship is available where money is deducted based on your JEE Main percentile. Extracurricular activities includes involvement in various society events.

Totally satisfied with my placement and infrastructure. And all the awesome facilities.
Placements: Placements for 2023 went very well. As of my branch mechanical, the highest package was INR 40 LPA (in core mechanical), and the average was around INR 10 LPA. I don't know much about which companies came, but most companies came in mechanical only. And overall placement too went very well.
Infrastructure: In Thapar, the hostels provided are some of the best in our country, and we also get the option of AC rooms or 1-seater, 2-seater, and 3-seater. We have such good infrastructure, like our Nava Nalanda Library, which is one of the world's finest libraries. Wi-Fi is available everywhere on the campus. Although talking about mess, we have two organizations for mess: one is Sodexo and another is Thapar's own mess committee, so it is good as well.
Faculty: Teachers and professors were very helpful and always up to help students. The curriculum is so good, but there is only one problem, which is that we need to give programming tests on paper, not on a computer. Rest is all okay. Our semester exams are not that difficult, and I don't know much about the pass percentage, but I can say it is quite easy to pass here.
Other: I had an interest in the mechanical department and got to know that it has one of the best mechanical engineering courses in India, so I opted for it. Society, culture, and regular events are so good in college because they help us improve our skills beyond academics.

Q:   Can I take direct admission in Thapar University, Punjab?

A:

Thapar University admission to most of the undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral courses is based on candidates' performance in several national-level entrance exams. For TIET BTech admission, candidates must have class 12 and a valid JEE Main score. Apart from JEE Main, TIET also accepts CAT/XAT/CMAT/MAT/GMAT/GRE/ Thapar Entrance Test for MBA and GATE for ME/ M.Tech admission. TIET does not offer direct admission. Candidates seeking admission to TIET UG, PG and PhD courses need to appear for the course-specific entrance exams. Q:   I got 92% in PCM in 12th CBSE boards, can I get CSE in Thapar University in any round?

A:

Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology is one of the top-ranked engineering colleges in India. Based on your Class 12 CBSE board exam scores, you have a good chance of getting admission into Thapar University for Computer Science Engineering. However, admission to Thapar University is based on multiple factors, such as JEE Mains scores, the Class 12 board exam scores, and the rank obtained in the online test conducted by the university. The university also has a counseling process, which takes into account all these factors and determines the eligibility of the candidate for admission to the college. In general, the cutoff rank for admission to Thapar University for CSE varies every year based on the total number of applicants and the performance of the candidates in the admission process. Therefore, it is difficult to predict your chances of getting admission to Thapar University based only on your 12th board exam scores. However, with your excellent Class 12 board exam scores, you have a good chance of securing admission to Thapar University, provided you perform well in the online test and counseling process.

Q:   What is the effectiveness of the placement cell for M.Sc. programs at Thapar University?

A:
{Source: M.Sc. students & alumni}

Effectiveness of Placement Cell for M.Sc. Programs at Thapar University

Based on student reviews, here's what we found:

* Decent Placements: While students from B.Tech courses may have more opportunities, biotechnology students still receive offers from organizations visiting campus.
* Internship Opportunities: In addition to job placements, internships are also provided on-campus for M.Sc. students.
* Fewer Job Opportunities in Biotechnology: As biotechnology is an emerging field, there are limited job opportunities in India, which affects placement rates for biotechnology students.

In summary, while the placement cell seems to be doing its part in providing internship and job opportunities, the number of placements may vary depending on the programme (B.Tech vs. M.Sc.). Biotechnology students may face fewer job prospects due to the industry's relatively small size in India.

Hi dear, Marks of 10+2 does not affect your ranking as it not counted. From 2017 onwards, jee has removed, however 75% or top 20 percentile is the eligibility criteria for IIT. So concentrate over 10+2 studies, as it will ultimately help you in your jee mains. BEST OF LUCK DEAR
