ISRO Offers 5-Day Free Online Remote Sensing Course For Students
To encourage the young brains to explore the principles of remote sensing technology and its usage to study the Earth, the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) invites applications for its interactive free 5-day remote sensing course “Usefulness of Remote Sensing and GIS for Environmental Studies“.
This remote sensing course is designed by the Indian Institute of Remote Sensing (IIRS) for the school students of 10th, 11th, and 12th, who can learn about remote sensing technology through interesting and interactive lectures and demonstrations.
Usefulness of Remote Sensing and GIS for Environmental Studies
Remote Sensing data & Geographic Information System (GIS) are important tools to monitor and mapping of natural resources and environmental pollution in addition to natural disasters like cyclones, tsunami, avalanches, floods, drought, hailstorms, wildfires, etc. This ISRO course will help future scientists to understand the importance of remote sensing and furthermore in career decision making.

Date: July 26 – 30, 2021
Number of lectures: 2 online lectures of 45 minutes each day
Timing:
Lecture 1 – 10:00 AM
Lecture 2 – 12:00 PM

Course Structure
- The course will be live-streamed at IIRS YouTube channel – https://www.youtube.com/user/edusat2004
- In this interactive course, students can ask questions through YouTube Chat Box
- Everyday quiz based on lectures delivered
- A certificate will be awarded if the total score of the quiz is at least 55%.
- After completion of the course, you can download the certificate by August 5, 2021 (tentative)
How to Apply
Indian school students of 10th, 11th, and 12th standard can apply online for summer school at https://admission.iirs.gov.in/coursecalender. Once you apply for the remote sensing course, you will get login credentials for the LMS portal on your email. Please make sure that the email ID entered is correct.
