Deakin University, IIM Bangalore collaborate to advance academic excellence and research innovation

Deakin University and the Indian Institute of Management Bangalore have announced a strategic partnership. The alliance aims to enhance international cooperation, spur research innovation, and foster academic excellence. Under the agreement, the initiatives include student mobility, collaborative research projects, faculty exchange, workshops, executive education programs, and more, benefiting faculty, students, and the wider academic community. 

The partnership was formalised at the IIMB campus, during a senior leadership meeting on 23 April 2024. 

Prof. Jenni Lightowlers, Executive Dean, Business and Law, Deakin University, said, "Through the partnership between Deakin University and IIM Bangalore, we're not just facilitating student mobility and exchange, but also fostering a powerful collaboration between Australia and India. This partnership represents a fusion of knowledge, expertise, and cultures, driving forward a shared commitment to excellence in education and research on both sides of the Indian Ocean," as reported by PR News Wire.

Ms. Ravneet Pawha, Vice-President (Global Alliances) and CEO (South Asia) of Deakin University, said, "This agreement marks a significant step forward in our commitment to fostering international academic partnerships and promoting excellence in global research and education. It extends Deakin's consistent knowledge cooperation and engagement 'in India, with India, for India', and we are excited about the opportunities it presents for collaboration between our institutions."

Deakin University Announces Scholarship Program 2024 For Indian Students

The university in association with Gujarat International Finance Tec-City (GIFT City) introduced the Deakin University and GIFT City Scholarship Program 2024. The initiative will offer fully funded tuition and living scholarships to two deserving Indian students who aspire to a world-class international education.








The scholarship is available for two postgraduate courses being offered at Deakin GIFT City including Master of Business Analytics and Master of Cyber Security (Professional), as reported by Free Press Journal.







Eligibility Criteria for the scholarship includes:

  • Applicants should be an Indian citizen residing in India with a valid Indian passport.
  • Have an aggregate score of 85% in a recognised undergraduate program in India
  • Should be eligible to enrol in either the Master of Cyber Security (Professional) or the Master of Business Analytics programs at Deakin University.
  • The family income of the applicant should be less than INR 3 lakhs per annum, supported by Income Tax Returns for the previous two years. Proof of family income needs to be notarized.
  • Applicants need to submit a statement of purpose explaining their choice of Deakin University's GIFT City campus and submit their applications directly to Deakin or through any authorised Deakin agent in India.
