Republican presents Absurd Bill to Send Arrested Student Protesters to Gaza
The bill was introduced by Rep. Andy Ogles (R-TN) and supported by Representatives Jeff Dunch (R-SC) and Randy Weber (R-TX). The Bill is dubbed the “Antisemitism Community Service Act,”.
A bill was introduced by Republican lawmakers on Wednesday which would send “any person convicted of unlawful activity” at a college or university, to do community service in Gaza for six months.
The bill is introduced to punish students opposing the U.S.-backed genocide. A major protest is going on across US universities demanding divestment from Israeli companies and a ceasefire in Gaza.
As per reports, over 2000 people have been arrested so far in the US and now this bill seeks to send the arrested protestors to war-hit Gaza.
It was introduced by Rep. Andy Ogles (R-TN) and supported by Representatives Jeff Dunch (R-SC) and Randy Weber (R-TX). The Bill is dubbed as the “Antisemitism Community Service Act,”. The bill wants to send detained protestors to Gaza where Israel has used U.S. funds and weapons to kill over 34,700 people, displacing nearly two million of Palestinians and obliterating homes.
“If you support a terrorist organization, and you participate in unlawful activity on campuses, you should get a taste of your own medicine. I am going to bet that these pro-Hamas supporters wouldn’t last a day, but let’s give them the opportunity," said Ogles with Fox News.
Study Abroad Act
There is also another bill named the Study Abroad Act which seeks to cancel the visas of students studying abroad in the U.S., if they are “arrested for rioting or unlawful protest,” or were arrested while “establishing, participating in, or promoting an encampment," as reported by Daily Beast.
Study Abroad Act does not require the students to be charged with an actual crime, only arrested. The bill was exclusively released to the Daily Caller.
"My message is clear: if you’re a student visa holder rioting AGAINST American values and FOR Hamas terrorists, you can go study abroad in Gaza," says Ogles on X Platform.
Ogles faced significant criticism in February over his response to a comment about murdered Palestinian children. “I think we should kill them all, if that makes you feel better. Everybody in Hamas," he said. On this, later a Republican spokesperson had to clarify that he did not mean to advocate for the murder of those children.
