Study Abroad: Apply for Leiden University Excellence Scholarship by 1 October
This scholarship is offered to academically excellent students who are joining Leiden University's full-time Master's degree programme with the exception of MSc programmes and LLM (non-advanced) at Leiden Law School.
Leiden University in the Netherlands invited applications for Leiden University Excellence Scholarship 2024 from excellent Non-EEA/non-EFTA students who are joining the full-time Leiden University Master's degree programme with the exception of MSc programmes and LLM (non-advanced) at Leiden Law School.
"As the UK is now a non-EEA country, students from the UK are now eligible to apply for the LExS," reads the official statement.
The academic session will begin on 1 Feb 2025, and the last date to apply for the scholarship is 1 October 2024. The scholarship is provided for the whole duration of the study programme. It is not a full scholarship, there are three levels of awards including total tuition fee minus the statutory tuition fee, € 10,000 of the tuition fee, and € 15,000 of the tuition fee.
The candidates will be selected by the faculty selection committees within 6 weeks of the LExS deadline and all applicants will be notified by email by the end of November 2024.
Leiden University Excellence Scholarship Requirements
The following are the eligibility requirements:
- The applicants must have a non-EEA/non-EFTA passport and should not be eligible for student finance by the Dutch government (Studiefinanciering).
- They must have completed their bachelor's with excellent academic results and the program completed in the previous study should be relevant to the Master's program in which the student has applied.
Who are not eligible for LExS award?
The following are the exclusions of the scholarship:
- Scholarships will not be awarded to students who will enrol at the Faculty of Humanities, the Faculty of Sciences or Leiden Law School for the program that will start in February.
- It can not be offered to an LLM (non-advanced) or MSc programme at Leiden Law School
- This scholarship cannot be combined with another full scholarship from an external provider.
- Those who have already obtained a Leiden University Master’s degree will not be given LExS award with the exception of applicants who are enrolling in a course where previous work experience or Master's programme is mandatory.
