University Of Manchester: Applications Open For MSc in International Disaster Management

Study in UK: The University of Manchester is currently accepting applications for an MSc in International Disaster Management for the 2025 intake. The applications are invited from Indian students.

The course is of one-year duration during which the students will study the key concepts of resilience, vulnerability, governance, and sustainable development. The course will equip them with the critical skills they require to respond effectively to complex disaster scenarios.

“Upon completion of the program, graduates will emerge equipped with a Master of Science degree, ready to embark on careers in government agencies, non-profit organisations, international development agencies, or research institutions. With a focus on academic rigour and practical application, the MSc in International Disaster Management prepares students to make meaningful contributions to the field, addressing the urgent challenges posed by disasters and helping to build more resilient and sustainable communities worldwide,” says the official notification.

Eligibility Requirements For MSc In International Disaster Management

  • The students must have an upper Second-Class Honours Degree from a recognized university in a relevant discipline. They can also have an equivalent degree or professional experience in the related field.
  • The overall IELTS score should be a minimum of 6.5 in writing with no less than 6 in all skills or they can submit a score of TOEFL iBT which should be more than 93 with a writing score of at least 22 and no skill below 20.

The tuition fee for the international student in the academic year beginning in September 2025 is £27,500.

Scholarships Options

There are various scholarships available to international students including:

  • HCRI Scholarship of value £13,500
  • Postgraduate-taught scholarships for outstanding students such as Humanities Bicentenary Scholarship worth £10,000 for 1 year of study.
  • Postgraduate 1+3 funding
  • For Indian students from specific states, a number of other scholarships are also available such as Rajarshi Shahu Maharaj Scholarship (Maharashtra), Rajiv Gandhi Scholarship for Academic Excellence (Rajasthan), Marang Gomke Jaipal Singh Munda Overseas Scholarship (Jharkhand), and National Overseas Scholarship Scheme.
