Educational Testing Service (ETS), based in Princeton, which conducts exams like TOEFL and Graduate Record Examinations (GRE) has announced that the United States (US) will now be able to validate Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) test scores through their Indian study-abroad partners.
ETS has partnered with Career Mosaic, a student recruiter for US universities in South Asia, for score verification.
"The number of candidates taking TOEFL in India has surged by 59% since international travel resumed post the COVID-19 pandemic. Indians constitute over 12% of the total candidates taking the TOEFL exam," according to ETS statistics.
Sachin Jain, ETS India and South Asia's country manager, said the collaboration with Career Mosaic would provide universities with "reliable and efficient solutions" for evaluating the English language proficiency of prospective students.

"We are excited to partner with Career Mosaic to verify TOEFL scores of US university applicants, enhancing the university’s trust in the scores submitted," he said, as reported by India Today.
"The TOEFL score verification services offered by ETS through Career Mosaic in India can significantly enhance the credibility of student profiles shared with US Institutions. This association will reinforce the integrity of the TOEFL test score and will benefit both universities and the growing number of Indian students seeking higher education opportunities in the USA," Manisha Zaveri, joint managing director at Career Mosaic, said, as reported by NDTV.
Blerina Polovina, Director of International Admissions and Business Development at Webster University USA, welcomed the move.
She said that the validation of TOEFL scores would aid in streamlining the university admission process, thus expediting student enrolment.
"By having validated scores, universities will save the effort of English proficiency score verification, ultimately fostering a more seamless and reliable admissions experience for both students and universities alike," Polovina added.
