Well, the college is average, but there is scope for a lot of improvements.
Placements: I worry about placements because this year only 4 people were selected. Out of them, 2 were from rural areas and 2 were from urban areas. I fear for the future of my career. The placement is really messed up, even the seniors had the same views on it, so you would have to keep this in mind and not rely on the college for placements.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure is alright, for better or worse, but it can have a bit of improvement. The overall view is really nice though. But you would here and there face problems with hygiene and all in bathrooms, etc. The classes are good, the teachers care about your studies a lot and are helpful. But the labs don’t have good quality stuff, and the Chemistry lab doesn’t have all the required things. Also, the teachers can ruin your career anytime, so you would have to be good with them and be really cautious about it.
Faculty: The curriculum can have a bit of improvement, as the exams can be a bit overwhelming for some people because the assignments and all are really given one after the other. You hardly get any time for self-study. The attendance scene is really bad.
Other: I think the attendance can be lowered, and there should be more focus on practicals and all, rather than focusing on attendance maintenance and copying things.

B.Tech. in Mechanical Engineering - Batch of 2026
Offered by Institute of Technology, University of Kashmir, Zakura Campus
3.6

Good infrastructure, placements are good, but the checking in exams is brutal.
Placements: About 60% of the students were placed. The highest package was about 14.5 CTC and the lowest was 5.5 CTC, which were offered by Tata, Vedanta, Indus Towers, etc. About 80-90% of the students got internships in Mahindra, Jamkash, Boiler Plants, etc.
Infrastructure: The labs, library, and Wi-Fi facilities are good, but the boards in the classrooms are not up to the standards. The medical facilities and mess are fine, but the canteen is not available in the premises. The sports and games are also not up to the standards as compared to other colleges.
Faculty: The teachers are helpful, qualified, but the teaching quality is not good at all. The course curriculum is a bit relevant, but doesn't make the students industry-ready. The semester exams are moderately difficult, and the pass percentage is 25% in all the subjects.

In 2018, faculty at that time was average.Non-avaliability of wifi services impacting students
Placements: About 5000 students ,This was purely an academic bachelor's degree course, So, Chance of getting recruited in private companies is low.Non- of internet services inside the campus hinders students to get access from online resources.Nepotism works at lot here in this college, especially in chemistry department where they keep the marks of their very high for no reason
Infrastructure: Faculty were average and there was no availability of wifi at that time.Cheap librarian at that time,he was not giving books to students for more than 7 days and were giving books to his for months without charging for penalty. Non- availability of wifi at that campus hinders students from getting access of online resources
Faculty: Teacher at that time were below average. We had to read on our own behalf.we were attending the college only for attendance.Non-avaliability of wifi services at that time hindered our access to online resources like magzines, research papers, scientific journals etc.
Other: Below Average

It is the best college for B.Tech in Kashmir.
Placements: Best college, many students are getting placed every year. Approximately 10 students from every batch get placed, and companies like Tata and Mango, along with other big companies, recruit students from our university. The highest package is 22 lac per annum, and the average is 12 lac per annum.
Infrastructure: There are big classrooms, and the quality of benches or tables is great. We have a big library, and we have every book there. The hostel is very big, and the food quality in the mess is outstanding. The medical facility is average, and the sports and games are outstanding as well.
Faculty: Faculty is outstanding and highly qualified. They have done research in many fields. They are very helpful, and they teach the best. Semester exams are difficult, and the pass percentage is 90% if you study and pay attention in class because teachers give their 100%.

Really good teachers and facilities.
Placements: No one was placed in our batch or the previous one. There is no placement in our college. You just have to study well and opt for an internship. You have to gain experience and do well in your internship and the rest is on your hard work. .
Infrastructure: Facilities are excellent in our college. There is no Wi-Fi but the labs, classrooms, and library are excellent. You can get almost any book from the library.
Faculty: The teachers are very knowledgeable and the teaching quality is excellent. The teachers are very helpful, they ask if we understand the concept or not. They also make the students industry-ready by giving them practical knowledge. The semester exams are easy if u study well.

Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) - Batch of 2024
Offered by Government Degree College, Budgam
2.8
1Placements3Infrastructure3Faculty4Crowd & Campus Life3Value for Money
College is good for gaining knowledge, good staff, average infrastructure, and no placements.
Placements: We don't have placement programs at our college. There is no package offered at this college, as there is no placement programme. No company comes to recruit students to this college. No students gets an internship from any course. There is no role offered at this college.
Infrastructure: Our college boasts good facilities, including high-speed Wi-Fi, but that is only for staff. The college has well-equipped labs for hands-on experience, modern classrooms for interactive learning, and a vast library with an extensive collection of resources to support academic endeavors. There is no hostel available in this college; the food available in the canteen is good and also at an affordable rate; medical facilities are also available; all the sports equipment is available in the college but the college grounds are small.
Faculty: The teachers in our college are highly qualified, knowledgeable, and dedicated to providing excellent education. The teaching quality is commendable, with a focus on the interactive method to ensure a thorough understanding of the subjects. Yes, the course curriculum is designed to be highly relevant to industry needs. It includes practical skills, hands-on projects, and real-world applications. The semester exams are challenging yet fair, testing students understanding of the course work. The pass percentage typically hovers around 55%.
Other: I personally choose to do a bachelor's in arts because of the intriguing mix of subjects, the chance to delve into diverse fields like literature and sociology, and the flexibility it offers for a well-rounded education. I think more extracurricular activities during this course would have made this course easier and more enjoyable. At our college, the campus is buzzing with a vibrant atmosphere during events and fests, drawing a diverse and enthusiastic crowd. The campus surroundings are picturesque, fostering a conducive learning environment. But there is no bus service on the college route and even college buses aren't in operation most of the time, which makes reaching the college harder. Extracurricular activities happening at this college are average.

Q:   Is Kashmir University good for MBA/PGDM?

A:
{Source: MBA/PGDM students & alumni}

Based on the reviews from current students and alumni, here's a summary of what they have to say:

* Faculty: Professors are well-qualified, experienced, and knowledgeable in their subjects. They are helpful and willing to guide students.
* Course Curriculum: Although outdated, the course curriculum provides a good foundation for students. Some students feel that it needs to be revised to make it more relevant to industry demands.
* Placement: Placements are not guaranteed, and students often struggle to find jobs. Alumni feedback suggests that placements are mainly driven by individual effort rather than the university's placement cell.

* Campus Life: Campus life is vibrant, with regular events and fests organized by students. Sports facilities and gyms are available.
* Specializations: Specialization options may vary depending on the stream, but students appreciate having multiple choices.
* Teaching Quality: Teaching quality is satisfactory, with professors using innovative methods such as PowerPoint presentations.
* Scholarships: Scholarships are available for deserving students.

In conclusion, while Kashmir University has its strengths, such as well-qualified faculty and decent infrastructure, it faces challenges in terms of outdated curriculum, limited placement opportunities, and inconsistent teaching quality. Students seeking an MBA or PGDM should weigh these factors carefully before making a decision.
