Although there was a separate placement cell and a placement counselor, there wasn't any student placement from our college.

Satisfied with the infrastructure and faculty.
Placements: There are a lot of paid and free internships and workshops. The class strength is not overwhelming. The internship courses are optional. The workshops are enriching. Science fairs are also held occasionally. Art exhibitions are also a place where students can sell their products.
Infrastructure: The science labs are well-equipped with functional machines and instruments. The labs are not congested and are distinctive for different departments. Food in the canteen is of good quality according to the affordable price. There is an emergency medical room. The sports and cultural clubs are active.
Faculty: There are regular class tests to check academic progress. The teachers are approachable and knowledgeable. Critical concepts are taught with care. Pass percentage is 75%. There are ability enhancement and skill enhancement courses. Also, there are certificate language courses like Spanish and French.
Other: I chose this course because I'm interested in life sciences. The college departments hold freshers and farewell parties every year, although the fest is not regular.

Life of a first-semester Scottish Church College Student.
Placements: The placements given by Scottish Church are very average. If you're looking for a college with placement, then this is NOT a good choice. I don't have much idea about the highest and the lowest package, but the average is around 3-4 LPA. The college does not provide any internship programme as of now, in 2024. None of the BBA students got placed.
Infrastructure: Our classrooms have AC and multimedia setup. It is well ventilated and spacious. The library has lots of options for books from which we can choose. Instead of buying a new book for every semester, the library has enough copies of one book for the whole class to blend. Since I don't stay in the hostel, I don't have any idea about it. The college canteen is very affordable with tasty meals. Both buildings have their individual canteens. The college also provides an indoor games room, a gym, and a ground.
Faculty: The faculty is very professional, knowledgeable, and experienced. They know exactly what to do and how to do it when they come to class. They are very helpful and lenient with the students. Very supportive. The course curriculum is relevant, and yes, it makes the students industry-ready with lots of real-life examples and teaching techniques. The semester exams are not tough if we study. Even the checking is done leniently. Thanks to our professors.
Other: I like my course as I'm under the guidance of very professional faculty members. The college does not have many events and stuff. That's the only thing that it lacks.

Written a very honest review.
Placements: In our college they have their placement cell and approximately 50 percent students get placement offers but the package is very less like the starting package is 1.50 Lacs per annum to 4.00 Lacs per annum. The college don't conduct any internships, sometimes different institutions come to our college and they provide internship programs.
Infrastructure: Our college provide hostels for those students who live very far from the College. Hostel name is Lady Jane Dundas Hostel. They don't provide Wi-Fi and there is a common room in which you can go and study. Hostel mess food is okay but they don't provide chapati they only provide rice and they provide only 2 meals in a day.
Faculty: Teachers are helpful but not all teachers are that much qualified for the post of a professor. Our Head of department is very amazing personality, he is very helpful but he never completes his course. All teachers complete their course on time but they don't teach very properly.
Other: College don't have any fest and they don't do any gathering.

Scottish through the eyes of someone real!
Placements: There were 38 students in our course at the end of semester. Although there were much more at the beginning. The highest package offered in our course was 280000, the lowest was 36000 and average 60000. All per annum. Sorry to say but even though the companies offered to us were pretty lame, none were recruited ever. No student got any internship ever. The one and only role offered to us in our course was a chemist.
Infrastructure: There was wifi but no student could access it. It was only for the faculties. Same is for the computers. The labs were pretty old. It was all show-off. The chemicals were too old, the instruments were broken, fridge not working. Classrooms had air conditioners but only for show. Turning the AC on used to make the rooms hotter than outside. The library was huge but none of the important books were there. All an all, it was all a bid Charade. The food quality was worst everywhere. Like in the mess, canteen everywhere. They were pretty bland and sort of too runny. The medical facilities only had Dettol and cotton. No bandage or any burning cream or whatever. There was no place for any sports or game. Only the annual sports.
Faculty: Only two of the faculty members were truly helpful and qualified to be a professor. But others knew nothing and very unhelpful. Yes the course curriculum indeed is relevant. This is perfect for industry training. The semester exams in this college is pretty difficult. The pass percentage is very weak like only 7%.
Other: I chose this course to be industry ready. If you complete the course and then start looking for jobs in the industry, there's a good chance you'll get them. I wish that there was instrumental knowledge practices was included too. Like knowing the instruments we're using. Knowing all the hardwares and all. So if one is damaged there's no need to call the technician. There was no fest or campus crowd or connectivity being a missionary college and all. But the Christmas was celebrated grandly. There was a scholarship opportunity for the poor students. But there was no extra curricular activities.

M.Sc. in Botany - Batch of 2023

A solid foundation with room for growth.
Placements: The program offers a decent placement record, with around 60-70% of students securing jobs in government research organizations, pharmaceutical companies, and environmental consultancies. The highest package offered was around 6 LPA, while the average was 4.5 LPA. Around 70% of students secured internships in organizations like the Botanical Survey of India and the National Botanical Research Institute.
Infrastructure: The college provides adequate facilities for the Botany department, including well-equipped labs, a decent library, and reliable Wi-Fi. While the classrooms could use some modernization, they are functional. The hostel facilities are clean and comfortable, with a variety of food options in the mess and canteen. Medical facilities are basic but sufficient, and the college offers sports and games activities.
Faculty: The teachers in the Botany department are generally helpful and knowledgeable. While some may have a stronger teaching style than others, most are qualified and dedicated. The curriculum is relevant and prepares students for the industry. However, the semester exams can be challenging, with a pass percentage typically around 70-80%.

B.A. (Hons.) in English - Batch of 2022
3.4
1Placements3Infrastructure4Faculty4Crowd & Campus Life5Value for Money
Absolutely worth it if you want to experience proper college life. Good and knowledgeable.
Placements: I'd give the college a rating of 1/5 regarding placements since there were no placements for our batch/course. Some of the students received a few internship offers. Placement-wise, I don't think it'd be a good option. I've hardly seen any recruiting companies, but I may be wrong since I did my B.A. in English Literature.
Infrastructure: Regarding the infrastructure of the college, I'll say it's just above average. The classrooms in the old building of the college were big and spacious but not very ideal for a good study environment compared to the classrooms in the new building (Jubilee building). The library, though small, is well-maintained and regularly updated. There are two hostels available for the boys—Wann and Duff. It's a 5-8 min walk to the college from both hostels. Hostel life is really good. No ragging, or bullying of any sort. The food is below average, like any other hostel.
Faculty: Teachers in the English department were top-notch. There is no doubt about the quality of education. Also, teachers are regular in class. Only the theory part of the semester exams is tough, thanks to the University of Calcutta. The passing percentage is 35%.
Other: Never fail to meet interesting people from different backgrounds in this particular course. The area in which the college is situated is an ideal spot for students. North Kolkata never disappoints. The college has its own ground, i.e., Bagmari, which is about 2-3 km from the college but walkable.
