- The MSc is delivered over two years with eight compulsory taught modules over four semesters and a scientific paper in year two
- The programme takes students through a narrative that spans across the four pillars of Advanced Neonatal Practice (Clinical Practice, Leadership and Management, Education, and Research) and progressively helps develop the academic underpinnings to advanced clinical practice within neonatology
- The neonatal unit is part of the Children’s Hospital at the Royal London Hospital, and we have close working relationships with fetal, maternal, paediatric hospital and community services, neonatal/paediatric surgery and the full spectrum of specialist allied healthcare professionals as well as the London Neonatal Transfer Service

Dr Burak Salgin, BA MB BChir PhD
Burak is a Consultant Neonatologist at the Royal London Hospital medico-surgical tertiary neonatal unit and with the London Neonatal Transfer Service. He is programme lead to the MSc Advanced Neonatal Nurse Practice. Burak completed his medical degree and PhD at the University of Cambridge. He then undertook a postdoctoral research fellowship at the Cambridge University Department of Paediatrics under the supervision of Prof. David Dunger. Burak further holds a Postgraduate Certificate Learning & Teaching (Higher Education).
Dr Deanna Gibbs, PhD, MOT, Grad Cert Res Meth, BAppSc(OT), CNT, NTMTC
Deanna is the Director of Clinical Research for Neonates and Children (Nursing & Allied Healthcare Professionals) at Barts Health NHS Trust, and a visiting senior lecturer at Queen Mary University of London. Deanna is an Occupational Therapist and has worked predominantly in acute paediatric and neonatal settings in Australia, Ireland and the United Kingdom. She is a certified neonatal therapist and certified in neonatal touch and massage.
