Awarded to Indian students for the entire length of an undergraduate course in any field (or subject), the Charpak Bachelor’s Scholarships come with the following benefits:
- Fee waiver on French student visa
- Study in France fee waiver or reimbursement
- Social security
- Assistance with student accommodations in France (priority access to the crous residences may be offered, subject to the availability of these residences)
- Monthly allowance of €860 towards the daily expenses of Indian students in France
Charpak Bachelor’s Scholarships Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible to apply for these scholarships the applicant must:
- Be an Indian citizen or an Overseas Citizenship of India (OCI) card holder.
- Not exceed 23 years of age as of the date of application.
- Have applied for a valid undergraduate course, starting 01 September 2024.
- Have never studied at any higher education institution in France before.
- Have completed their secondary school education in India.
How to Apply for the Charpak Bachelor’s Scholarships?
Before proceeding to apply for the Charpak Bachelor’s Scholarships, candidates must get admitted to an undergraduate degree program under a recognised French institution/college/university.
It must be noted that without receiving an acceptance/confirmation of admission from the applicant’s chosen French institution, application to the Charpak Scholarships will not be considered. Hence, applicants must look for the set of required documents and keep them handy before starting to apply for these scholarships.
The applications for all the Charpak scholarships must be submitted online through an online portal at http://ifi.scholarship.ifindia.in/. The following documents must be uploaded as part of your application for this prestigious scholarship.
- Passport-sized photographs
- An updated academic CV
- Academic transcripts, scanned copies of your previous qualifying exams’ mark sheets, NOC and passing certificates from higher secondary education and secondary education.
- Copies of the first and last page of your passport.
- Copy of the admission letter or the acceptance letter from the chosen French institution of higher education.
- A French language proficiency certificate, DELF or DALF
- A Letter of Recommendation (LOR), optional

What To Do if You Do Not Have the Required Set of Documents?
Campus France has suggested a number of measures to be taken if the applicant has not yet received any of the required documents from the above list. These measures are given in detail below.
- If the applicant has not yet received a confirmation/admission letter from the university of their choice before the Charpak scholarship’s deadline then, they must present email correspondence to prove that they are in the process of getting one.
- Students applying to multiple universities must specify their top priority university in their scholarship application form. On failing to do so, their candidature for scholarship will be rendered disqualified.
- Students who have not qualified for their class 12th final exams are required to submit details on their mid-term examination.
- The file format of submitting the documents must be either PDF or JPEG. Any other file format is not acceptable.
Charpak Bachelor Scholarship Selection Criteria
The CGPA or the percentage cut-offs are not among the deciding parameters of the selection criteria of any of the Charpak Scholarships. The winners of the Charpak bachelor’s scholarships are selected on the basis of their academic excellence and the consistency and quality of their Statement of Purpose (SOP).
