In alignment with AICTE's vision, the Uttar Pradesh government is also gearing up to launch a BTech course for working professionals in the upcoming session.

U.P. to Launch BTech Course for Working Professionals

This course provides a platform for professionals to further their education without disrupting their careers. The state's technical education minister has emphasized the need to update and prepare students as per industry demands, stating that "what is not updated is automatically deleted".

Credibility and Structure of the Program

The AICTE-approved institutes can run B.Tech programs from 2023 to 2024 for working professionals ONLY in the approved courses with NBA accreditation. This ensures that the quality of education provided meets the high standards set by the National Board of Accreditation (NBA). The program is structured to be as rigorous as the regular B.Tech courses, with a total course duration of at least three years to fulfil the contact hours prescribed by the affiliating university.

Eligibility and Admission

Professionals must work in a registered industry/organization within a 50 km radial distance from the institute and have at least one year of full-time/regular working experience. The qualification required is the same as for candidates eligible for lateral entry to the second year, as specified in the Approval Process Handbook published by AICTE.

The AICTE's announcement and the Uttar Pradesh government's initiative represent a significant development in the Indian technical education landscape. It reflects a growing recognition of working professionals' need for continuous learning and upskilling. By providing a credible and structured program that accommodates the schedules of working individuals, AICTE and the UP government are paving the way for a more skilled and educated workforce.
