The Indian Green Building Council (IGBC) has launched the Green Education Programme to meet the growing demand for green building design, construction, operation, and maintenance professionals. The initiative aims to develop a large pool of industry-ready green building professionals in line with India’s goal of achieving Net Zero by 2070.

Indian Green Building Council (IGBC) Green Education Program has numerous courses for students and professionals heading towards a career in the green building domain, which include:
- Online Certification Course on Green Built Environment for Students

IGBC conducts four certification examinations, which are as follows -
- IGBC Accredited Professional (AP) Examination
- IGBC Accredited Professional - Associate Examination

1. IGBC Accredited Professional (AP) Examination
The IGBC Accredited Professional (AP) Examination is conducted online through remote proctoring, allowing candidates to take the exam from a compatible laptop or desktop.
- Eligibility: Open to professionals with at least two years of experience in the building industry.
- Exam Focus: Designed to assess green building design and construction knowledge, not based on any specific rating system.
- Frequency: Held twice a month (1st and 3rd Saturday).
- Registration Process:
- Create an account on the IGBC website.
- Pay a non-refundable examination fee.
- Receive login details five days before the exam.
- Results: Candidates receive immediate results upon completion, with a formal scorecard provided within three working days.
- Certification: Successful candidates are awarded the IGBC AP certificate and listed on the IGBC website.
- Retake Policy: Unsuccessful candidates can retake the exam by repeating the registration process with a different email ID.
2. IGBC Accredited Professional - Associate Examination
The IGBC Accredited Professional - Associate Examination (IGBC AP-Associate) is designed for students and young professionals with less than two years of work experience who have completed the IGBC Certification Course on Green Built Environment.
- Eligibility: Open to students and young professionals with less than two years of relevant experience.
- Exam Structure: The exam consists of 110 multiple-choice questions divided into four sections:
- Section I: Green Building Design & Construction (50 questions)
- Section II: Building Standards & Codes (15 questions)
- Section III: IGBC Processes (15 questions)
- Section IV: Green Design Strategies & Impacts (30 questions)
- Passing Criteria: Candidates must score at least 85 marks to pass; there is no negative marking.
- Examination Fee:
- Online Certification Course & Examination: Rs. 7,500
- Exam Fee (for those who underwent the IGBC program at their institution): Rs. 3,000
- All fees include GST and are non-refundable.
- Frequency: The exam is conducted online twice a month on the 1st and 3rd Saturday.
- Administration: The examination is facilitated by MeritTrac Services Private Limited, which ensures secure and efficient testing.
- Results: Candidates receive immediate results upon completion. Successful candidates are awarded the IGBC AP-Associate certificate and listed on the IGBC website. Unsuccessful candidates can retake the exam by repeating the registration process.
3. IGBC AF for Faculty
The IGBC Accredited Faculty program recognizes faculty members who complete IGBC's Faculty Development Program and pass the associated examination.
- Eligibility: Faculty with at least two years of academic experience can participate in the exam.
- Exam Details: The examination, which is part of the Faculty Development Programme, is conducted online and consists of multiple-choice questions.
- Content Areas: Topics include:
