Additionally, passing an entrance test conducted by IDE, Madras University, is mandatory. No, Established in 1857, the University of Madras, also known as the University of Madras or UNOM, has the distinction of being one of the oldest and the oldest universities in India. UNOM, a joint research university, has six campuses in different parts of the city including Chepauk, Marina, Guindi, Taramani, Maduravoyal and Chetpet. Madrasa University Institute of Distance Education, commonly known as Madras University Institute of Distance Education, was established in 1981 as an extension of Madrasa University. Currently, Madrasa University Institute of Distance Education offers undergraduate, postgraduate, Diploma and certificate programs in various disciplines. The institute offers education in the fields of Science, Arts, Commerce, Management and Information Technology (IT). Candidates must appear in an Management Entrance Test (MET) organised by the University and obtain a minimum of 40% aggregate or an eligible score obtained in CAT, XAT or CMAT.

The recent placements statistics has not been released by IDE University of Madras for MBA courses, however, as per the students’ reviews on the Shiksha page,  84% of the recent batch was successfully placed in the reputed companies. The the highest and the lowest package offered during the recent Madras University Distance Education placements stood at INR 35 LPA and INR 7 LPA, respectively.
