Free Online Courses Offered by IITs

IITs and IISC have collaborated with National Programming on Technology Enhanced Learning (NPTEL) to offer free short-term courses through their online platform. Various IIT faculty members take up the online courses offered by IITs. Joining an online course is free of cost which is conducted generally for 8 to 12 weeks. Anyone can learn from these courses anywhere anytime by comfortably sitting at their homes. No pre-requisites, no age limit, no entrance criteria to enroll in the online courses. However, there is an optional entrance exam conducted by IITs that the learner can take for a prescribed fee at the end of the online course to earn certificates from the concerned IITs.

Artificial Intelligence Course

Artificial Intelligence is one of the popular online courses offered by IITs. It is conducted every year by a faculty member. Through the Artificial Intelligence courses, candidates can learn an overview of the principles and practices of AI to address such complex real-world problems. One of the most demanding courses in both medical, engineering fields is biostatistics. The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT Bombay) conducts an eight-week course on mechanobiology, biostatistics. In this course, students learn about different statistical tools required to

Chemical Engineering Thermodynamics Course

It is an eight-week course on thermodynamics of fluid phase equilibria. The candidates will get a certificate following an online examination conducted after the conclusion of the courses. The courses are free of cost, but there will be a fee of Rs 1,100 charged for the examination.

Robotics Course

There is a great demand for robotics in the field of the gaming industry and manufacturing units. The course is 12-weeks long, and aims to provide an understanding of the mechanical, electrical, and computer science aspects of Robotics. This course is a bridge course for undergraduate or graduate students from various disciplines to get a basic understanding of robotics. IIT Madras conducts this course free of cost. Many other certificate courses are being offered free of cost. Institutes like IIT Kanpur offers a two-month course on Coding Theory. Microwave Engineering is a 12-week course by IIT Guwahati.
