The admission process at NEHU Shillong is different for all courses. Aspirng candidates need to take GATE exam for M.Tech and JEE Main for BTech programme. For the remaining programme the admission is based on CUET UG and CUET PG exam. Along with this the candidates need to have class 12 or graduation to be eligible for the desired programme.

As per the admission guidelines of NEHU Shillong, admission to BTech courses is solely based on JEE Mains scores. Candidates must first qualify for the JEE Mains entrance examination. Additionally, the number of seats available for the BTech lateral entry programmes is 10, while the four-year BTech programme offers 20 seats. Therefore, securing a seat in the programme is quite competitive. Students can review the cutoff trends here, to better understand the difficulty of the admission process. Furthermore, the total fees for the BTech programme at NEHU Shillong range between INR 5,000 and INR 6,700.
