Q:   How do I get admission in NEHU Shillong?

A: 

The admission process at NEHU Shillong is different for all courses. Aspirng candidates need to take GATE exam for M.Tech and JEE Main for BTech programme. For the remaining programme the admission is based on CUET UG and CUET PG exam. Along with this the candidates need to have class 12 or graduation to be eligible for the desired programme.

The modes of North-Eastern Hill University course admissions are offline and online. Admission to various undergraduate and postgraduate courses is based on merit and entrance exam scores. Not all course admissions at NEHU University Shillong are based on CUET. BTech admissions are based on JEE Main. For various courses like BCA, BA, BSc, and others, CUET is accepted by the NEHU University Shillong. CUET (Common University Entrance Test) is an all-India level entrance examination which is conducted by NTA (National Testing Agency) for admission to undergraduate and postgraduate courses. The competition is high so prepare well in advance to clear the CUET exams with good scores.

Q:   How can I apply to NEHU?

A: 

For NEHU Shillong admission, candidates can apply online through the official application portal of the University. However, candidates must also apply to the official conducting website of relevant entrance examinations. The University-specific application process is listed below:

Step 1: Visit the official website of NEHU Shillong (nehu.ac.in)

Step 2: On the ‘Students’ tab, click on ‘Fees’

Step 3: Register yourself by filling in your details. Hit the ‘Register’ button

Step 4: Your login ID and password along with the application form filling link will be sent to your registered email ID. Click on the link to proceed further

Step 5: Log in to your NEHU Shillong account with your email ID and password. Hit the ‘Login’ button

Step 6: Select the course for which you wish to seek admission

Step 7: Upload your deatils along with scanned copies of your passport-size photograph and signature in JPG/ JPEG 

Step 8: Proceed further by filling in your address and guardian details. Hit the ‘Submit’ button

Step 9: Conclude the application form by paying the application fee

Candidates who opted the university when registering for the CUET exam are entitled to request for admission counselling. On the university's admissions portal, the counselling process will be conducted. Following registration, a merit list of chosen students will be made public. The unbiased opinion of an Edmundian.
Placements: There are little to no placements, and they are not course-related, they seem random. Most placements are from banks like ICICI and Axis. It's mostly for clerk positions. The salary package is around 2 LPA, which is not much for the cost of living.
Infrastructure: There is no Wi-Fi, but we have nice labs. Classrooms are spacious. Hostel is very strict. We need to maintain a curfew at 6 PM. Mess is the best. Medical facilities are not that good. We can play football, basketball, volleyball and badminton.
Faculty: Teachers are well-qualified, with doctorate degrees. They have years of teaching experience. It's one of the best colleges in Shillong. Semester exams are very tough and challenging for many students, leading to backlogs over the years. It is rather easy for those who are diligent in their studies.
Other: I chose this course because it's easy and one of the best subjects to choose from the arts stream. It has more fieldwork. We hold a college week once a year.

The best college for M.Sc. in Chemistry.
Placements: Approximately 85% of students are placed into the North Eastern Hill University M.Sc. Chemistry degree. Packages range from a minimum of 10 LPA to a maximum of 30 LPA. ONGC, Sun Pharmaceuticals, Oakhart, and other companies are among the leading employers. Nearly 75% of students got internships successfully. Chemical engineers and research chemists are the top roles offered.
Infrastructure: The facilities at our university are excellent. Our university has a strong security system and internet access. In addition, there are fields for hockey, basketball, and football. Additionally, there's a lovely landscaped garden where you can hang out and sing. Additionally, our food court and canteen are clean and hygienic. The meal is of excellent health quality. All of our classrooms have air conditioning. Our lab and library are very quiet spaces for high-quality research.
Faculty: The teachers have excellent qualifications and a wide range of talents. The course is relevant to the syllabus, and the guidance is of good quality. The semester tests are challenging, too. To fully understand the material, we must attend classes, and attendance must be at least 75%. To pass the test, you must receive at least 50% of marks.

Nice college with lots of good facilities.
Placements: In our batch, we are a total of 40 students. We get internships in the 7th semester in companies like travel agencies or hotels. We get to experience national trips and field trips while doing the course. We get internships for experience. Overall, the college and course are nice.
Infrastructure: We get facilities like a computer lab or lab to practice for hotel management, and we get to experience field trips. We have a sports complex and a library inside our college. The canteen offers both veg and non-veg food and local food. This college has overall good infrastructure. Even the washrooms are big and clean. They have water purifiers in the canteen.
Faculty: Teachers are well-qualified from well-reputed institutes, and they are very skilled in the tourism line. This course is quite useful and has various options for the future. Semester exams are tough but not hard to pass. We need to study thoroughly to prepare for the paper.
Other: I chose this course as it has various opportunities for the future, offers internships, and includes entrepreneurship study. It also includes a national study trip tour. Our college has many events happening every year, like college week and other events.

The best college for M.Sc. in Zoology.
Placements: About 85% of the students were placed in our college. The maximum package is 9 LPA, while the minimum package is 3 LPA. The average is 5 LPA. WWF India, Biocon, and ICAR are among the top employers. About 75% of students secured internships. The available positions are Research Associate, Project Coordinator, and Lab Analyst.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure of our university is very good. The college has a good Wi-Fi system, a library, and classrooms. The college has well-organized labs. The college has hostels, a canteen, and a mess, besides medical facilities, sports, and games for the students. The hostel is safe and secure for all the students. Good food is also served in the canteen.
Faculty: The faculty of the college is really good; they are knowledgeable, helpful, and competent. The teaching environment is good. They always help the students in their studies, and the course curriculum is nicely designed. It prepares the students for the future, and the semester exams are challenging but fair, with a pass rate above 85%.

Nongstoin College Provides the Best Course and Facilities to Students.
Placements: 50% of students were placed in this course. The highest was 80k, the lowest 20k, and the average 40k. Many other companies have been recruiting for this course since 2015. 60% of students got internships in IIT Guwahati and other companies. GIS was the top role in this course.
Infrastructure: Wi-Fi is available. Laboratories are also available. Classrooms are good. The hostel is also very good. Sports equipment is available along with medical facilities. Canteens are also available, and different games are played during college week. The quality of food is very good.
Faculty: Teachers were very generous and knowledgeable. Before the 4th semester, courses are quite difficult, and the pass percentage is 35%. Semester exams are sometimes quite hard and sometimes average. Most students who choose this course are industry-ready.
Other: I chose geography because I'm familiar with this course. The best thing about this course is that there aren't many students who choose it, which makes it easier to cooperate with the teachers. More equipment is required to improve this course. There are lots of events annually, the campus is crowded, and scholarships are also available.

Review of St. Anthony's College, Shillong.
Placements: I'd say out of 300 students, only 20 will get placed in campus recruitment since it's voluntary, not mandatory. The highest package offered was 10 LPA, and the lowest was 2.5 LPA. Top recruiting companies are HDFC, Canara Bank, and Teach For India. Only 3% got internships from our course on Internshala. The top roles offered in our course are clerk positions.
Infrastructure: We have a Wi-Fi facility, but we can't use it since we are not allowed to use phones within the campus. The food and canteen are good; we have three canteens, of which two are student-friendly. In the hostel, we have a Wi-Fi facility, and the food is really good. We get to eat meat three times a week, which includes chicken, fish, and chicken again.
Faculty: The teachers are well-qualified, but some dedicate their time to teaching us, while others just teach for the sake of it. The course does not adequately prepare one for the industry. Semester exams are quite challenging, and the pass percentage is around 80%, but we can still reappear next year if we can't clear our papers.
Other: I chose B.Com. because I wanted to learn more about finance and commerce. To improve the course, I'll suggest that there should be more subjects to choose from. Events, festivals, and campus crowds are quite good at this college, and scholarships are given to the majority.
