OSOU accepts the Odisha Joint Entrance Examination (OJEE) scores for admission to the M.Sc program. The OJEE is a state-level entrance exam conducted for admission to various professional courses in the state of Odisha. Therefore, candidates interested in pursuing M.Sc at OSOU are required to appear for the OJEE and achieve the minimum qualifying scores to be considered for admission. Besides, this it also accepts other entrance tests like JEE, CSIR, etc. 

Odisha State Open University evaluation system is based on two core components-continuous evaluation (assignments) and term-end examination. Continuous evaluation will carry 25% weightage and the term end semester examination will have 75% weightage. In courses having practical, the term end examination will carry 50% weightage and practical examination will have 25% weightage.

The minimum mark to complete each component of the course, overall score and successful completion of the programme is 40%. The minimum pass mark required to complete the project related course is also 40%.

Odisha State Open University admissions are merit-based. Candidates need to pass Class 12 or equivalent for admission to any of the UG courses. Graduation will be required to get admission in PG programmes. Aspirants must hold the documents proving their eligibility for admission. 

Odisha State Open University does not specifies the minimum aggregate to apply for a course. However, aspirants need to pass a minimum of Class 12 for UG courses. Aspirants with 70% in Class 12 can easily get admission in Odisha State Open University. Aspirants must have the required documents to get a seat in the university.

Candidates need to submit a few documents while filling the OSOU application form. Below are the documents required to apply for admissions:

• Photograph (must be in jpg format with size 300 × 360 px in dimension and maximum of 200KB in size)
• Signature (must be in jpg format of size 200 × 40 px in dimension and maximum of 200KB in size)
• Scan copy of your Name in Odia (must be in jpg format of size 200 × 40 px in dimension and maximum of 200KB in size)
• Certificates of Educational Qualification (must be in jpg or pdf with a size of maximum 300KB)
• Category Certificate if any (for ST/SC/OBC Non-Creamy) (must be in jpg or pdf with a size of maximum 300KB)
• PwD  (Person with Disability) Certificate if any [must be in jpg or pdf with a size of maximum 300KB)
