No, the university does not conduct any entrance tests for MSW course admission. Admission to the PG-level course is merit-based. Hence, the aspirant’s merit in the UG degree is taken into consideration. Additionally, it is also compulsory that the students meet the eligibility criteria. Hence, the applicant must have a valid UG degree from a recognised university.

BAOU allows admission to either the first or second year of the course. Candidates taking admission in the first year should have a valid bachelor’s degree from a recognised university. While for the students taking admission in the second year, a PGD in social work after graduation from a recognised university is necessary.

The course is offered in Gujarati-medium only as per the BAOU Ahmedabad official website. Hence, the students seeking admission shall be well-versed in the language. All the subjects taught during the course, including MSW programme is conducted in Gujarati. The two-year course shall be completed in a maximum of six years. The degrees/diplomas/certificates offered by BAOU Ahmedabad are treated at par with other UGC-approved universities' degrees/diplomas/certificates. Hence, the degrees issued by BAOU are valid and accepted by companies and other institutes. Additionally, the university is a member of the Association of Indian Universities (AIU). It is also recognised by the Distance Education Council (DEC).

BAOU offers Certificate courses across 27 specialisations. These courses are taught through two departments, i.e., the School of Humanities and Social Sciences and the School of Computer Science at the university. Some of the certificate courses offered are in Naturopathy, Indian Poetics, Theatre Arts, Food and Nutrition, Anganwadi Karyakrta, Childcare and Development, etc.
