Q:   Are edX courses paid or free?

    A:

edX offers both free and paid courses. If the student is financially weak, he/she can enrol in a ‘free to audit’ track. However, you will not get a certification. If the student still wants a certification, you can seek financial assistance on the edX platform. By enrolling in free to audit courses that are eligible for verified certificates, interested students can apply for financial assistance. Do note that not all eligible students will get financial assistance. If you need a certificate, you can directly enrol in verified tracks or paid courses. This will ensure that you will get the certificate after the course completion.

Q:   What are instructor-paced courses on edX?

    A:

These are fixed schedule courses that have specific due dates for assignments and examinations. Students need to complete the course with the defined time periods. In these types of courses, course material is available at specific time as that course progresses. Those students who have passed the course in short span after course completion, will be awarded with certificate. Unlike self-paced courses, instructor paced courses do not offer course material as soon as the course starts. In case of instructor paced courses, 'Instructor-led on a course schedule' is mentioned on that edX course page for the convinience of enrolled learners.
