SWAYAM stands for Study Webs of Active-learning for Young Aspiring Minds. It is an online platform launched by the Government of India in 2017. Developed by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) in 2016 with the support of the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) and Microsoft, Swayam offers a wide range of courses for students from high school to post-graduation. With over 13,230 courses available, SWAYAM has successfully enrolled more than 4.6 crore learners and issued 31.1 lakh certifications.

SWAYAM provides courses in various domains, like design, engineering, health sciences, humanities and arts, management, etc., and each course is designed by top educators. Swayam courses include video lectures, downloadable materials, self-assessment tests, and online discussion forums. SWAYAM is governed by ten National Coordinators, including AICTE, IGNOU, NIOS, UGC, and NPTEL, who oversee various educational domains.

One notable aspect of SWAYAM is that the courses are mostly free, but if you want a certificate, you need to register for and take a proctored exam for a fee at specific centres on specific dates. Apart from all this, Swayam has also partnered with Cambridge, Guvi, Internshala, Medaversity, Auroville, L&T Edutech, etc.
