    Frequently Asked Questions

Q:   How will the lab classes be conducted for MSc Physics at IGNOU?

    A:

IGNOU offers MSc Physics in the distance learning mode, which means that students can complete the theoretical coursework online or through self-study, but they may face challenges in accessing laboratory facilities. IGNOU conducts laboratory sessions in collaboration with partner institutions that offer laboratory facilities. During the MSc Physics programme, students are required to attend practical laboratory sessions that are held at selected regional centres of IGNOU and other partner institutions.

The practical sessions are conducted for a limited number of days and hours, usually on weekends or holidays. To attend laboratory sessions, students need to enrol themselves for the lab sessions by paying a separate fee for each lab course and selecting their preferred study centre. The study centres are selected based on their proximity to the student's location.

During the laboratory sessions, students will be provided with access to various lab equipment and tools required for conducting the experiments. Experienced lab instructors will guide the students through the experiments and assist when required. It is important to note that laboratory sessions are a crucial component of MSc Physics and students need to complete the lab sessions to fulfill the programme requirements. Therefore, it is recommended that students plan and schedule their laboratory sessions in advance to ensure they can attend them and complete the programme successfully.
