Candidates will go through a preliminary shortlisting procedure based on their academic history and GATE score in order to be admitted to the programme. A candidate may be required to take a written exam and/or an interview if they satisfy the cutoff for shortlisting. The number of applications received will determine whether or not a test or interview is required, and candidates will be informed as such. It should be emphasised that the department retains the authority to set a shortlisting cutoff for M.Tech applications and may decide not to accept any candidates if none are thought to be eligible. Being eligible does not automatically mean that a candidate will be invited to the written exam or interview.

Yes, it is possible to get admission to an M.Tech programme without GATE under certain circumstances. One such circumstance is if the candidate has a BTech degree / MSc (Math/Applied Math) degree from any IIT.  In general, the candidate must have earned a BTech/BE/MSc/Equivalent Degree in any discipline and must have already earned BTech/BE/MSc or, at least, should be in the final year of the respective studies. In the latter case, it would be assumed that the candidate will be able to complete the degree by the time of M.Tech admission.  

To apply for the M.Tech programme at IIT Hyderabad, the candidate needs to follow these steps:

1. Visit the official website of IIT Hyderabad and navigate to the "Admissions" section.
2. Look for the M.Tech programme you want to apply for and find the application link.
3. Register on the website by creating an account using a valid email id and mobile number.
4. Fill in the application form with all the required information such as personal details, educational qualifications, GATE score, and other relevant information.
5. Upload all the required documents such as mark sheets, degree certificates, GATE scorecards, etc.
6. Pay the application fee, which is usually around INR 600 for the General/OBC category and INR 300 for SC/ST category.
7. Submit the application form before the last date of submission.
8. Wait for the shortlisting of candidates based on their GATE score and further process for admission will be announced by the institute.

The eligibility criteria for admission to the M.Tech programme at IIT Hyderabad are:

1. A Bachelor's degree in Engineering/Technology or a Master's degree in Science with a minimum of 60% aggregate marks (or a CGPA of 6.5 on a 10-point scale)
2. A valid GATE score in the relevant discipline
3. Meet the cutoff score set by the institute for the particular programme
4. Meet the institute-specific eligibility criteria

Yes, scholarships are offered by various institutes and governments. MCM and SC/ST scholarships are available for students with a parental income of less than Rs. 4.5 Lakhs and the students must achieve an SGPA/CGPA of 7.0 or above with no active backlogs. The number of students selected for the MCM scholarship is limited to 25% of class strength. The NSP portal provides more detailed information on different scholarship schemes, including the post-matric scholarships scheme for minorities, top-class education schemes for SC and ST students, and scholarships for students with disabilities. Students can apply for more than one scholarship, but only one scholarship can be availed, and students must inform the institute regarding the same.
