More about this course
  • The course focuses on strengthening students-analytical thinking and writing skills from a humanities perspective
  • This course will introduce students to different modes of rhetorical communication
  • Also enable them to formulate a critique on different kinds of writing that expresses their opinions, while grounding it in concrete evidence taken from texts and relevant contexts
  • The course, therefore, combines activities in deep reading with discussions, debates and writing to navigate non-didactic, rhetorical humanistic discourses and texts
  • There are three broad segments along which this course is structured
  • The first segment looks at the structure of texts as rhetorical entities that construct discourses in a stylised manner
  • The modes of communication covered will be expository, descriptive, narrative, and argumentative/persuasive
