Amazing placements but with infra woes.
Placements: Our college is very famous for placements. Placements are the only reason because of which our college is always in the limelight. Every year, placement statistics of our college are improving. More than 80% of our seniors are placed in reputed companies. The placement activities start as soon as the 6th semester ends, and by the end of 8th semester, 95% of the students are placed. As far as mechanical branch placement is concerned, it's very good. Top companies like BPCL, BEL, Royal Enfield, Vedanta, Triveni Turbines, Orient Cements, etc. regularly recruit students. Highest package for mechanical is 12 lacs and a lot of companies offer from 3 to 8 lacs package. Other branches like information science, computer science, electrical and electronic also boast of superb packages. Since our college is 100 years old and is the titan of engineering, many companies have to recruit us as ours is a government college and there is an MOU signed between the company and the college. The positions we are offered are very significant for our career growth and are the positions a fresher can dream of. This happens mainly because ours is a student-driven campus, we are independent in every task and are ready for any stress condition. This is how the college prepares us. As our college is a huge brand, you can get internship and project support from top PSU and MNC firms and along with that, the college supports our internship and other activities. Our huge alumni network is a big support for us. The numbers may vary here and there, but this should be your top choice when placements are our goal.
Infrastructure: This is the main hurdle for the college. Infra woes are impeding our progress. This has been the reason to understate our college among top colleges in the state. Classrooms are pathetic, lab equipment is just enough for prescribed course. No medical facilities and badly maintained library add to the misery. There is no proper arrangement for food and drinking water. Because of Jio Wi-Fi boxes, internet connectivity is good. Very less support for sports activities. Hostel condition is below average. Concluding from these and based on my experience, this college is not fit for those who expect a palace-like college and demand all facilities. But for students who come for the purpose of gaining knowledge, they will take these as challenges and will be so much equipped that they can survive anywhere in the world if they are a student of this institution.
Faculty: The faculty members have huge experience. They motivate you and provide guidance and support for higher studies, placements and career growth. But classes will not be regular and faculty will not complete the full syllabus. But this helps you to be self-dependent by not spoon feeding everything, rather, it encourages you to study from reference books and come up with doubts and help you develop intellectually. Both conventional and modern methods are employed as demanded by the course. Each class has about 80 students and you will face a little difficulty with the huge strength of students in the class. The course curriculum is very much balanced and is very much interesting for students but are not updated regularly. There are frequent industry visits, seminars, and interaction with the top professionals and resource persons, so students will be updated with trending technologies.
Other: Finally, this place is very powerful for our development in all ways. The world is demanding huge competition and by studying here, you will be ready to face anything. This college being the dream child of sir MV Visvesvaraya, you will feel the rich heritage while studying here. I personally feel this place has a special aura and helps a student to discover an engineer in him.

Q:   Is entrance exam enough for B.Tech admission at UVCE?

A:

Admissions to the BTech course provided by the Univesity Visvesvaraya College of Engineering is entrance-based. Students are required to clear the minimum eligibility i.e., to pass Class 12 or its equivalent in the relevant subjects from a recognised board. As the competition for UVCE BTech seats is high, it is important that the candidates secure good marks in the Common Entrance Test conducted by the KEA. Additionally, students need to participate in the counselling process conducted by the KEA for seat allottment.
