ACCA qualifications – making careers in Finance & Accounting
By Sunil Taneja
ACCA (the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) is the global body for professional accountants. It aims to offer business-relevant, first-choice qualifications to people of application, ability and ambition around the world who seek a rewarding career in accountancy, finance and management.
ACCA supports its 154,000 members and 432,000 students throughout their careers, providing services through a network of 83 offices and active centres. It has a global infrastructure, which means that exams and support are delivered at a local level, directly benefiting stakeholders wherever they are based.
ACCA Qualifications
ACCA offers globally relevant qualifications to give you an excellent start in core accountancy skills. You can also gain more specialist knowledge – depending on your ability and the qualifications you already have. ACCA qualifications provide everything you need – at any level – to build a successful career in finance.
Entry requirements
Three GCSEs and two A Levels in five separate subjects including Mathematics and English or their equivalent are required for this accountancy qualification.
A Level = Std XII
O Level = Std X
This explains how important it is to create awareness among students that they can start this qualification from Standard XI itself, which creates a new world of opportunities for them. If they start doing this from Class XI, they will not only acquire these certifications for each level passed, but it will also help them to improve their scores in Class 11th and 12th exams too, by the time they enter B.com, they might have progressed in a few papers of ACCA, which can open job opportunities.
How long does it take?
Three to four years on an average.
