Eligibility for Communications Engineering varies depending on level of study:
- Undergraduate (B.Tech/B.E): Pass Class 12 with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics and score well in entrance exams like JEE Mains.
- Postgraduate (M.Tech): Bachelor's degree in Engineering (preferably ECE or related) with a minimum aggregate score (often 60%). Selection is based on entrance exams and sometimes interviews.

In order to get admission to M.Tech in Communications Engineering course at IITs, you must meet minimum eligibility requirements. You should have at least 60% marks in your bachelor's degree in a relevant field. For reserved category candidates, marks eligibility requirement is usually relaxed by 5%. Further, you have to appear for GATE exam. You must secure a good rank in entrance exam as it plays most important role in admission process.
After you successfully secure a decent rank in GATE, you will have to appear for COAP counselling process where you will be allotted a seat according to your rank at one of IIT branches in India.
